Sylvester Stallone has angered his Palm Beach neighbours with his request to keep boaters away from his $35 million (£27.6 million) property using a unique method.

The Rocky star, who purchased the Palm Beach property in 2021, has reportedly put forward plans to build an underwater barrier near his home.

His neighbours, however, have aired their objections to the proposed plan which would see Stallone build a seaweed barrier around his home.

According to The Palm Beach Post, Stallone’s plans to build the barrier in the intracoastal waterway by his mansion which has been billed as an environmental project needed to keep out debris and seaweed from the waterway.

However, a public notice from the Army Corps stated that ‘the overall project purpose is to exclude boaters’ from being near the property and seaweed was listed as a secondary concern.

Neighbours were reportedly blindsided by the proposal, on which the Florida Department of Environmental Protection said they have until 5pm on Christmas Day to give their feedback.

The actor’s application also includes a request for a lease of state land due to the positioning of the barrier, which would reportedly rise about 8 inches above the water and extend 10 inches below the water’s surface.

‘He bought a beautiful property,’ Stallone’s neighbour Bradford Gary told the outlet, calling the home ‘one of the nicest houses’ in the North End.

‘I can see why you’d want to protect it. But you can’t just stake your claim and think you own the water.’

The publication reported that one question submitted about Stallone’s proposal brought up the prospect of manatees becoming entangled in the seaweed, as well as the proposed project’s effects on seagrasses.

A spokesperson for the Army Corps said in a statement: ‘The Corps is reviewing the project purpose to determine if the use of barrier for the purpose of deterring boaters within the public waterway is permittable.’

Tulsa King star Stallone purchased the seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom property in 2020, which features a guest home and its own pool.

It comes after the Hollywood star celebrated Donald Trump’s presedential win last month, dubbing the businessman ‘the second George Washington.’

‘I’ll just say this – and I mean it,’ he said at the America First Policy Institute Gala. ‘When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world.

‘Because without him, you could imagine what the world would look like. Guess what? We got the second George Washington. Congratulations!’

He also likened Trump to his iconic character, Rocky Balboa, from the boxing film franchise.
