80s pop sensation admits he’s ‘completely estranged’ from his famous brother-Danni Scott-Entertainment – Metro

Twins Matt and Luke Goss stormed the charts in the 80s but the brothers are no longer on speaking terms four decades after a sudden split.

Bros secured a number two hit with When Will I Be Famous in 1988, a year after the track’s initial release, along with seven other top 10 hits.

The band dropped two albums, including their debut record Push which went four times Platinum and reached number one in multiple countries.

Bandmate Craig Logan left in 1989 with the Goss brothers continuing for three years before mysteriously parting ways at the height of their fame.

‘I don’t want to go into detail, but I also don’t want to lie any more. We are completely estranged,’ Matt revealed to The Guardian.

While the 56-year-old singer and former Strictly star pursued a solo career, his twin took on the US through a different artistic avenue; acting.

Luke, who is 11 minutes older than Matt, has appeared in the likes of Hellboy II as Prince Nuada and Blade II as Jared Nomak.

Speaking about their relationship, the I Owe You Nothing hitmaker continued: ‘When you do your best, that is enough and I’ve done my best, I really have. Listen, I want to be on the stage with him, I want to be touring with the band, I want to be having a pint, I want him to meet my girl, I want to meet his.

‘I want to live with him. But I’m not going to make myself unwell. I’m not.’

He didn’t give a reason for the tension between them, saying he didn’t want to say too much ‘out of respect’ but it’s not ‘kumbaya’ between the pair.

The brother’s feud has been a topic of conversation for many years and even the subject of their 2018 documentary Bros: After the Screaming Stops, which featured footage from their brief reunion.

While on Lorraine earlier this month, promoting his upcoming UK tour, Matt told host Ranvir Singh he had ‘tried’ with his brother 

The Cat Among the Pigeon singer added: ‘We are just trying to create things that are much more … Even coming on here, like you worry about it, but I can’t come here and lie.

‘We’re not talking, and it is what it is and if he doesn’t like it, that’s the way it is. I’ve tried but I have to come in and I’m excited about my own life and I’m excited about what I have done in my life.

‘When you consider it to the point it almost breaks you, that’s wrong. So I am just going to be truthful.’

Matt did say that Luke was ‘the love of his life’ and would still ‘love to get on stage with him’.

A reunion appears to be out of the question though, as Matt concluded he had ‘done his best’ to reconcile things.

Luke has not discussed his brother publicly since he began his career in America, keeping his personal life incredibly private.

He split from his wife — George Michael’s backing singer — Shirley Lewis eight years ago after tying the knot in 1994 and has no children, although he was stepdad to her daughter.

The Tekken actor told Metro in 2020: ‘I’ve had days of great pain, I’ve had great days of tears, like all of us, and I think anyone who doesn’t want to talk about that’s okay, but I don’t think that offers any comfort to somebody reading this interview.’
