Sam Fender has said he is ‘absolutely heartbroken’ after cancelling his upcoming tour dates due to a haemorrhage in his right vocal chord.

The two concerts were set to take place in OVO Hydro, Glasgow on December 17 and Utilita Arena in Newcastle on December 20 to end his 2024 UK and Ireland tour, People Watching.

The rumoured Glastonbury 2025 favourite wrote on his Instagram story: ‘Glasgow and Newcastle, as most of you know I’ve had the flu for a few days now.

‘Regardless of how compromised my voice was I did everything I could to get it in working order last night to put on the best show possible.

‘Today I’ve had an ENT scope/camera down my throat and sadly I’ve haemorrhaged my right vocal chord, I’m absolutely heartbroken.’

The 30-year-old singer’s caption said he had had ‘the best tour so far’ and all he wants to do is ‘get up and sing again for you all tonight’. But he has been advised that performing could ‘lasting damage’ to his voice so he should go on vocal rest for a ‘prolonged length of time until it heals’.

He told his fans on Instagram (Picture: Instagram)

He concluded to his one million followers: ‘I’ve done everything but the book this tour living like a monk, it’s so unlucky. I’m so, so sorry to all of you who are on your way tonight. We’re trying to figure out a way to reschedule for you all, more news soon.’

The Seventeen Going Under hitmaker announced his tour in October with chaos ensuing for his huge fanbase to get their hands on a coveted ticket.

So far he has performed in Dublin, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham throughout December.

The Hypersonic Missiles singer is also set to return to the stage in 2025 for a stadium tour following the release of his third studio album, People Watching, in February 2025.y

First he’ll head to Paris, Tilburg, Zurich and Cologne, Munich, Bergamo, Berlin, Amsterdam and Brussels in March 2025 followed by London and Newcastle dates across June 2025.

CMAT and The War on Drugs have been announced as support acts.

Many believe he might make his way to Glastonbury at the end of June to cap off a successful tour.

It is unclear what impact his new vocal injury which requires a prolonged length of time to heal will have on any upcoming live performances, if any.
