ITV viewers completely bewildered as they blast ‘trick question’ on gameshow-Ruth Lawes-Entertainment – Metro

The 1% Club viewers are ‘still furious’ over a ‘badly phrased’ question the left them casting doubt over the ITV progamme’s correct answer.

On the gameshow, host Lee Mack asked players which of these groups of six symbols are in the same order where you read them from left to right or from right to left.

Contestants had a choice between the following four groups: A)[ ] [ ] [ ]B)!£!£!£C) <>>>><D) ++ – – – +

The correct answer was C; however many fans of the The 1% Club argued the right response was A as it depended on the ‘definition of right to left used.’

They argued A was correct because Lee, 56, did not specifiy it was eachindividual symbol left to right. A would be correct if you could group the symbols together.

On X, @Rmdavies_uk fumed: ‘That should have been the 1% question, my family is still arguing about it. My conclusion, badly phrased question. Worse than Lee Mack’s suit imho.’

Agreeing, @tommllr raged: ‘This is a trick question, A or C could be correct depending on the definition of right to left used.’

Echoing their sentiment, @KevinDo22265655 wrote: ‘Need a stewards enquiry into this convinced the answer is A #The1PercentClub.’

A baffled @JKDabrowska asked: ‘What? That was definitely A not C for the symbols question! [][][] #The1PercentClub@ITV.’

@JemSem19 added: ‘This game has done me dirty tonight. Still furious about the 15% question.#The1PercentClub.’

However, as @LondonLad6699 explained, A is incorrect if you’re reading each symbol from left to right and from right to left because ‘[ ][ ][ ] the other way is ] [ ][ ] [.’

Earlier this month, however, it was The 1% Club contestants who attracted the ire of viewers after 20 players were wiped out over an ‘easy’ question.

The question was: ‘In order to move the puppet’s left arm, does the puppeteer need to move their own left hand or right hand?’’

As it was called the ‘90% question’ 90 people were predicted to get it right, but only 80 managed to crack it. The correct answer was right.

Even Lee was shocked at the amount of early exits.

‘Holy flips, we’ve lost 20 people!’ he exclaimed. ‘I don’t think we’ve ever had such a loud, “Oh my God” on the show before.’

Each episode of The 1% Club begins with Lee asking 100 competitors a question that is considered to be the most simple one that they’ll get to face.

If they get it wrong, they are no longer qualified to continue playing, and this continues for 15 questions, which progressively get more difficult.

Their complication level is judged by putting the same questions to the public and seeing what percentage get it right. The final question is answered correctly by only 1%.
