Miffy Englefield might not be a name you recognise – but fans of The Holiday will almost certainly remember her cherubic face as Sophie in the Christmas classic.

Starring Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and Jack Black, the film is a holiday favourite with Miffy taking on the role of Jude’s older and outspoken daughter.

Almost two decades on, the now 25-year-old actress looks very different to her days of asking for Mr Napkin Head – so much so her own daughter doesn’t recognise her.

That’s right, that little six-year-old girl is now a thriving parent, covered in tattoos and living her best punk inspired life as a self-described ‘hot mum’.

Last year, Miffy confessed to Metro that her daughter Frankie, three, simply refuses to believe it when watching her mum in The Holiday, adorably double checking every time.

‘[My daughter’s] seen it,’ the TikTok star shared. ‘She was a bit confused why I had ginger hair and I wasn’t the darker haired one seeing as I’ve had black hair her whole life.

‘She still can’t quite get her head around the fact that I’m the lighter-haired one. Every time she’s seen the clips she asks “Are you sure?”

‘If you ask her now what film mummy was in she’s like “The Holiday” which is lovely. I didn’t show her it, it was not my choice.

‘My family and friends like to see it as just a constant running joke to bring it up as much as possible to embarrass me around Christmas.’

For a long time, Miffy lived a normal life in a small British village, completely untouched by her festive fame thanks to her transformation into

Miffy spent a long time unable to watch the film, despite having fond set memories as it would make her ‘cringe’.

Her dad, who joined her on set, watches every single year but the young star likens the experience to looking at baby photos ‘which should be in the loft’.

Having her own child, who she shares with partner Alex, has helped her ‘soften’ to The Holiday, she added: ‘The older I get, the less cringy it is but for many years I couldn’t stomach watching.’

As a punk inspired young adult, Miffy’s transformation has allowed her to live her life without the downsides of fame – until she began sharing stories to over 60k followers on TikTok.

‘I didn’t talk about it when I was younger but if people did find out the shocked response was usually “what happened to you”, which is a really horrible thing to say,’ Miffy laughed.

She thinks the ‘novelty’ has worn off now, even the shock that she has a three-year-old is becoming less surprising as she added: ‘I’m getting old now.’

Despite her aversion to watching The Holiday, Miffy does treasure her time on set and shared an adorable present given to her and on-screen sister Emma.

She revealed: ‘On my last day of set I was given a present from Jude and Cameron, they got us a personalised jacket made with The Holiday 2006 written on the back and our names on the front, all embroidered. I’ve also got the back of my little director’s chair that has my name on it as well.

‘My daughter will be big enough for a couple of years to wear the jacket that I have which is so cute. So that will be a lovely thing to look forward to.’

Despite her hesitation about watching The Holiday, Miffy recreated an iconic scene in partnership with HomeExchange for a competition last year.

The film sees Amanda (Cameron) and Iris (Kate) swap houses, opting to spend the festive season alone which research revealed 39% of Brits have also chosen to do, possibly playing into it’s popularity.

In her lonely moment, Amanda gets a Party for One feast for her night in, which fans can win, including mince pies and snowmen biscuits.

Miffy added: ‘It still shocks me that The Holiday is as loved as it is. I don’t think when we first started filming I thought it would be this recurring thing every single Christmas.

‘The fact that it’s 17 years now and people are still watching it and I’m still getting messages every year is so, so lovely.’
