Maisie Smith posted a sweet tribute to her boyfriend Max George ahead of the star’s upcoming heart surgery.

The former EastEnders actress and Strictly Come Dancing star, 23, posted a picture of her holding Max’s hand, 36, in a hospital bed.

She captioned the image: ‘Got to see my wonderful man today, proud of you @maxgeorge’

Max reposted the image on his own story, adding: ‘Thank you baby. I love you so much’

Max revealed last week that he is going to be in hospital over Christmas after doctors discovered heart issues.

The Wanted member took to Instagram from his hospital bed this week, sharing an update on his health with fans.

He wrote: ‘Hey everyone, yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital.

‘Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart.

‘I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet.

‘It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned!’

He continued: He said: ‘But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support by my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place.’

‘Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was.

‘Apologies if I bore you with updates in the coming weeks..I’ve probably got a month in a bed and there’s not THAT much to do!😂’

The couple moved in together early last year and have been dating since 2022.

They met while they were competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, but didn’t start dating until the live tour two years later.

Maisie, who rose to fame playing Tiffany Butcher, was paired with Gorka Márquez while the All Time Low hitmaker danced with Diane Buswell.

When they were linked with photos of them looking cosy in a park together, a source told The Sun: ‘They were all over each other. This isn’t a flash in the pan. Max has told people that he is falling in love with Maisie.’

In a recent update, Max informed his followers that while no procedure has been confirmed yet, he’s hoping for a pacemaker, which is a small device used to treat some arrhythmias. This is when the heart either beats too quickly, too slowly, or with an irregular rhythm.

Max began in his video this weekend: ‘So the latest is that 100% I’m going to have a little friend put in here at some point.

‘I’ve got an issue with the bottom part of my heart; it’s called a block.

‘The tricky bit is what I have put in; until I have further tests, we don’t know what’s caused it.

‘We’ve cancelled out a few things, like alcohol, for example. I’ve not had a drink in four and a half years. So it’s not that. It’s a bit of a mystery really; the hard bit is the waiting.’

He continued: ‘Obviously, my heart rate is really, really low, which they’re monitoring 24/7. They’ve been amazing. But the waiting is tough.

‘It’s just one of them things, unfortunately. Whatever I get, I just have to get on with it.

‘I’m hoping the pacemaker is good; we can do pretty good with that.’

Earlier in the week, Max’s loved ones shared that they are remaining hopeful ahead of his operation.

‘We are beside ourselves, but we are keeping our fingers crossed’, his mother, Barbara, told MailOnline.

Barbara said her son is ‘very grateful for all the well-wishes from his fans’ and assured everyone that ‘he’s got all his friends and family around him too.’
