Having a famous parent can’t be easy and while Paloma Faith keeps her daughters out of the spotlight, her eldest still gets ’embarrassed’.

The Stone Cold Sober icon, 43, has never publicly revealed her children’s names but welcomed a daughter in 2016 and then her second daughter via IVF in 2021.

While chatting to Metro about her work with neurodivergent children this Christmas, Paloma revealed what her eight-year-old really thinks about her fame.

‘Sometimes my eldest daughter gets a bit embarrassed of me because she thinks that I attract too much attention, she’s quite insular,’ she revealed.

The Brit Award winner recalled a ‘really magical moment’ with one little girl who she met while working on the Sky Kids’ Ready Eddie Go! project.

The 10-year-old, who has autism, approached Paloma and said: ‘I just want you to know that I don’t think you should worry about your daughter being embarrassed. I think actually you’re just uniquely you, and you’re who you are, and you should just keep being that.’

‘She’s probably emotionally more intelligent than most adults,’ the St Trinian’s legend added.

With the Sky Kids Choir, Paloma has recorded Silent Night, Gentle Light which adapts lyrics of the Christmas classic to be more welcoming of sensory challenges.

All royalties from the track will be donated to Caudwell Children’s Charity with both the song and TV special, Ready Eddie Christmas!, available now.

Paloma lit up while discussing her eldest daughter, sharing that she believes the little one is also on the autistic spectrum and ‘related a lot to the song lyrics’ to her.

The Only Love Can Hurt Like This star continued: ‘She’s got very sort of particular things that she does and doesn’t like, most of which are listed in the song.’

Of course, Paloma thinks her eldest daughter is ‘incredible’ but jokes her youngest is the only ‘normal one’ in the family after her own later ADHD diagnosis.

‘When you get diagnosed, you sort of look out for it, and you realise that, like, your mum has got traits, and your kids have got traits, and your best friends have all got traits,’ Paloma explained.

She was diagnosed last year, having also split from her long-term partner Leyman Lahcine around that time after nine years together.

The Picking Up the Pieces icon continued: ‘You’re like, “Oh my god, that’s why we like each other”. Rather than feeling ostracised and misunderstood or whatever, it’s actually quite a cathartic and exciting thing to realise and accept.

‘It’s not debilitating in the way that a lot of people, I think, are scared of. I’ve been masking my whole life, and it’s just very nice to not have to do that.’

Since shedding this mask, Paloma has had an incredible year with a Glastonbury Pyramid Stage performance and released her sixth studio album, The Glorification of Sadness.

It reached number two on the album charts, which she confessed she doesn’t really ‘follow’ anymore.

‘It’s interesting, I can’t fathom the music industry anymore because it’s all just weird,’ the superstar shared. ‘The general inside consensus is [to] wait until this moment passes because nobody can understand it.

‘We’re all catching up with technology, aren’t we? Because technology has advanced so quickly.’

As for the Christmas chart, Paloma is hoping to ‘knock Mariah Carey off her spot as Queen of Christmas’, she joked: ‘I’ve been defrosting my freezer as she’s been defrosting herself.’

Silent Night, Gentle Light is available on all music platforms and Ready Eddie Christmas! is on Sky Kids now.
