Fearne Cotton has spoken out about going to therapy and leaving ‘situations that don’t work for me’ amid news of her split from Jesse Wood.

The TV presenter, 43, confirmed that she and Wood, son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, 48, were parting ways earlier this month.

She shared the shocking news with a statement, writing to her 3.9million Instagram followers: ‘It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage.’

She added: ‘Our priority has been, and will always be, our children.

‘We ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.’

The pair, who were married in 2014, met on holiday to Ibiza in 2011, where a friend at a restaurant introduced them to one another.

They welcomed their first child, a son named Rex, in February 2013, and, in February 2015, Fearne announced that she was expecting a second child, which contributed to her reasons for leaving BBC Radio 1.

In September of that year, she announced that she had given birth to a daughter, Honey.

Fearne and Jesse celebrated a decade of marriage this summer but called it quits before their 11th anniversary.

In a recent interview with Express, Fearne said of her life since the split: ‘My anxiety lasted a long time but I do feel like I’m breaking the back of it now, probably for certain reasons; my kids are that bit older, I feel like I’m slightly coming back to myself in ways, I’ve taken myself out of some situations that I know don’t work for me.’

She went on to say that she feels grateful to be in weekly therapy amid everything happening in her life.

Fearne’s divorce statement came just days after she announced that she had a benign jaw tumour.

After undergoing surgery, she issued an update to her fans on December 5: ‘Operation went really well. Recovering and resting. Thanks so much for all the kind messages.’

She initially said she would be ‘out of action for a bit’ due to surgery, explaining: ‘I felt a lump under my ear on my jawline a while ago now but this year noticed it was growing.

‘I’m feeling positive about it all and will take the opportunity to rest and slow right down.’

More recently, she once again gave fans an update on her healing process on Instagram, calling the human body ‘incredible’ and explaining you can now ‘barely notice’ what she’s been through.

‘I feel almost normal. My ear is still quite numb and my face a little tender but other than that I’m feeling good,’ she continued.

She then shared four photos, which depicted the gradual improvement in her healing process.
