Stranger Things fans have been given a sneak peek at the upcoming final season after filming officially ended.
The science fiction horror drama series was released in 2016 and quickly became one of the most popular shows on Netflix, a title it’s held over the past eight years.
The most recent season 4, which was released in 2022, has amassed a jaw-dropping 140,700,000 views, making it the second most-watched Netflix season of all time.
For the uninitiated, the show is set in the 1980s and follows the residents of the fictional small town of Hawkins, Indiana, as they are plagued by a hostile alternate dimension known as the Upside Down.
It stars Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Sadie Sink, who play Will, Elle, Dustin, Lucas and Max.
After a year of filming, season 5 is now over, with fans also treated to some snaps from the set.

Although it will be a while yet until the 8 episodes are released, 10 photos from the past year show the cast and crew at work.
One shows Gaten alongside executive producer Shawn Levy laughing while sitting down, David Harbour leaning up against a car and Finn, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery and Charlie Heaton laughing while embracing.
Soon after, the cast also shared posts reflecting on how significant the show has been in their life.
Posting a series of photos from over the years on Instagram, Millie also said in a video: ‘I am nowhere near ready to leave you guys. I love each and every one of you and I’ll forever carry the memories and bonds we’ve created together as a family.’

Meanwhile Noah shared a series of photos and wrote: ‘Two days ago, I wrapped my final scene as Will Byers, and I’m feeling very emotional.
‘I can’t help but be forever grateful for the incredible people that I’ve met and valuable life/career lessons I learned through this decade journey’.
He went on to describe how he ‘always felt like an outcast, unsure of where I fit in’ and described having to ‘navigate life in the spotlight while carrying this feeling’ which he said had been an ‘unusual experience’.

‘Stranger Things was more than a job; it was a lifelong dream,’ he added.
Finn also said he will ‘miss all of my friends and our characters terribly’ and told viewers he ‘hope they would love this season as much as I do’.
It was previously revealed the final seasons of Stranger Things would take place in 1987, more than a year after the events of the last season saw the Upside Down break into Hawkins and Max being revived by Eleven after being killed by Vecna.
Last month Netflix also released a teaser with the titles of all the episodes, which include The Crawl, Sorcerer and The Rightside Up.
Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix, with season 5 expected to be released in 2025.
