Max George has given an unlikely health update after undergoing heart surgery.

The Wanted singer, 36, underwent emergency surgery last week to have a pacemaker fitted, dubbing the procedure the ‘best Christmas present.’

While recovering in hospital, Max shared with fans a look around his new room after an unfortunate accident in another.

Videoing himself from his hospital bed, George said: ‘Just got out of bed then, 2am it is, and my feet just went in about a foot of water.’

Explaining how he had turned his hospital room into a makeshift pond, he continued: ‘I left my sink on and it blocked, so I’ve got a nice new gaff. It’s pretty sound.’

Max’s girlfriend, EastEnders star Maisie Smith, has shared she will visit him on Christmas Day – despite that entailing a 500-mile round trip.

‘We’re still talking everyday and FaceTiming. I’m still trying to be there as much as I can be,’ she told The Sun.

‘I’ve got Christmas day off, so I’ll be going to see him. We’re not 100% sure where he’ll be spending Christmas at this point in time, but whatever happens we’ll be together.’

Updating fans on his wellbeing while in hospital, Maisie, 23, continued: ‘He seems in happier spirits. It was lovely to see him because we’re quite far away from each other, so it was lovely to see him and his family.’

Max posted on Instagram last week that he had been admitted to hospital after feeling ‘really unwell’.

He was later informed that he had a ‘block’ in his heart for which a pacemaker – a small device used to treat some arrhythmias – has been fitted.

In a post-operation update to followers, he posted a photo of the large scar above which is a tattoo of his late Wanted bandmate Tom Parker’s birthday, August 4, 1988.

‘Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for,’ he said.

‘Pacemaker is in. Operation took around 2 and half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the surgeons and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them.

‘The surgeon kindly put my pacemaker just underneath a very special tattoo of mine.. So I’m sure it’s being looked after.’

He added that he still has a ‘few more tests’ remaining for ‘inflamed lymph nodes’ on his lungs but said it will ‘be easy work’.

‘Time to rest and then tackle life full-on once again. Thank you for all your support. It’s meant a hell of a lot to myself and my family,’ he concluded.
