80s music legend reveals ‘talks’ to join Strictly after quitting band-Emily Bashforth-Entertainment – Metro
He was part of the iconic band for over 40 years.

Strictly Come Dancing may be over for another year, but one music legend is already throwing their hat in the ring for the 2025 series.
Earlier this month, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell made history with their partnership and went on to lift the coveted Glitterball Trophy.
Hoping he’d be able to follow in their footsteps is Mike Nolan, who is best known as one of the four original members of Bucks Fizz.
While the group now performs as The Fizz, Mike, who won the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest, is setting his sights on other showbiz opportunities.
The 70-year-old Irish singer, who was part of Bucks Fizz for 43 years before quitting, insisted he still has all the moves in his locker.
Speaking to The Sun, Mike revealed: ‘I would like to do Strictly Come Dancing because we’re a dance vocal group that does routines, but they’re just routines.

‘Proper (ballroom) dancing now is real hard work that requires practice to make perfect.’
But it’s not just a pipe dream for Mike, as he also suggested that talks are happening between higher-ups.
‘I have spoken with my agent, and watch this space,’ he teased.
Earlier this year, Mike announced that he would be leaving The Fizz, which also consisted of original members Jay Aston and Cheryl Baker.
He played his final gig in November, having felt he had ‘served [his] time in the band’.
The pop star also joked that, after over four decades in the group, many would get less for murder.

On what else he plans to do next, the musician shared his plans to jet off to sunnier climates, such as the Maldives, where there’s ‘constant sunshine for three weeks.’
But after that, until the Strictly call officially comes, he intends to rest for the first time in a long while.
‘I’m looking forward to putting my feet up and doing absolutely nothing. It will be just heaven,’ Mike said.
‘When I get back, my diary will be clear, and I am so excited because it’s the first time in 43 years that’s been the case.’
Mike originally announced his departure from The Fizz in May, telling Michael Ball on BBC Radio 2: ‘I have decided to go, to leave.
‘I’ve been thinking about it for a long, long, long time, and I just thought, “This is the time to do it”.’

He also confessed that travelling has taken a toll on him over the years.
Then, in October, it was announced that Matthew Pateman (known from Bad Boys Inc. and Let Loose) and Nikk Mager (Phixx) would be joining the band.
Following their Eurovision triumph, the foursome achieved three number one singles and a top 10 album in the UK.
The Making Your Mind Up hitmakers have sold over 50million records worldwide.
