This Morning presenter Ben Shephard, 50, has wowed with his rippling abs as he took a bracing Christmas day dip.

The ITV personality wore a pair of navy blue swimming trunks and was joined by hundreds to take an icy plunge into the sea at Port Isaac, Cornwall.

He offered a bright thumbs up to the onlookers as temperatures neared a freezing 10 degrees in the famed English fishing village.

Soon the brave winter divers were back on dry land and Ben was spotted towelling off an impressive six-pack.

The Tipping Point host from Epping was also seen taking a shot of something before heading home to spend the rest of his holiday with his family, including wife Annie and sons Sam, 18 and Jack, 17.

His toned physique comes after the TV star was open about his fitness journey leading up to turning 50 – his Instagram bio even reads: ‘Family and Fitness.’

At the end of October, Ben told his 596k followers that he was challenging himself ‘to be in the best shape I’ve ever been in by the time I turn 50 in December.’

He added: ‘That’s why I started my fit at 50 challenge – to focus on my physical but also mental and emotional health and well-being.

‘I’ve got a fair amount of experience with the physical malarky, but after reading all your amazing comments (thanks for those) I thought maybe I could share some content on how I like to train in the gym.’

After sharing his goal, he regularly posted photos and videos of him working out in the gym, culminating in his final and ‘toughest Fit at 50’ challenge doled out by his son Sam, to do 50 pull-ups.

‘It took a few sets and a lot of grunting, huffing and puffing, but we got there in the end!’ He wrote beneath the video of him with his son Sam.

He turned 50 earlier in December and was in his usual seat on the This Morning sofa to celebrate the special day. Although he admitted he ‘feels old’ he also shared it was a ‘lovely day’.

There was plenty of praise from fans on the big day who said he had ‘aged like fine wine’ and dubbed him a ‘silver fox’. And this latest look at his toned torse is just further confirmation of the glowing compliments.

As for his choice of location, Ben has long been vocal about his love for Cornwall, where he also has relatives such as his Auntie Jan.

Earlier this year, as he said goodbye to GMB to move over to host This Morning with Cat Deeley, his former co-star Kate Garraway gave him a sweet Cornish surprise.

‘He was a very sweet little boy, he really was, and very physical’ Auntie Jan reminisced about Ben’s childhood in Cornwall at the time.

She continued: ‘I remember him walking all the way back from Port Quin [a cove near Port Isaac] across the fields when he was only about two and a half, I thought that was fantastic.’

The show also featured an appearance from one of his favourite bands, Fisherman’s Friends with whom he remembers spending various Christmas days singing alongside.
