After over two decades, one of television’s longest running shows is finally arriving on Netflix in a matter of hours.

The streaming giant is taking huge strides into live programming and WWE is at the forefront with Monday Night Raw launching on the platform tonight at 1am.

First airing in January 1993, it’s one of the longest running weekly episodic shows in history, with fans tuning in all around the world.

Last week’s episode was truly an end of an era as Raw aired on traditional television for the last time ahead of WWE’s $5billion deal with Netflix.

For fans in the UK, the streamer is the only way to watch the professional wrestling juggernaut, while Raw is exclusive to the streamer in the UK, US and beyond.

The first live edition of the Netflix era will air tonight at 1am and every Monday night for at least the next five years, with NXT airing on Tuesdays and SmackDown on Fridays.

That’s not all, with the streamer already adding heaps of WWE content on New Year’s Day as part of the historic deal.

It’s not the WWE Network level of niche, but already the streaming platform has almost every historic WWE pay-per-view/premium live event, from WrestleMania and Royal Rumble to events like Rebellion.

Every NXT TakeOver is on there too, along with select episodes of Raw and SmackDown (including everything from the last couple of years), with plenty more on the way in the coming months.

Netflix has also added a heap of new content too, including a Best of Raw 2024 Special, short form series WWE Legends Profiles and WWE Superstars Profiles, WWE Raw Classics hosted by Big E, and a WWE Raw Top 10 series.

Meanwhile, the streamer’s chief content officer Bela Bajaria previously made it clear they’re keen on delving into WWE’s characters and storylines for a range of projects.

‘We are really looking forward to doing documentaries and taking some of [WWE’s] great history and characters and doing that on the unscripted and scripted side,’ she previously told reporters.

Some of WWE’s superstars have their own ideas, with former United States Champion LA Knight pitching an action drama with Sydney Sweeney.

He’s not sure whether or not he’d appear in his Megastar persona as a ‘crossover universe’ style project or try ‘a completely different character altogether’, but he knows the Euphoria actress would be his dream co-star.

‘Maybe we take it easy on me and get my feet wet with a little maybe action-drama of some sort,’ he exclusively told Metro.co.uk. ‘Maybe it’s some sort of a mini series, or maybe even a quick little movie.’
