Jennifer Coolidge leaves fans feeling ‘hoodwinked’ after they discover her real voice-Pierra Willix-Entertainment – Metro

Jennifer Coolidge has left some fans declaring ‘my brain is altered’ after hearing her actual voice.

The American actress, 63, is best known for appearing in the American Pie and Legally Blonde film series, as well as in The White Lotus in more recent years.

Over the years fans have become used to hearing her distinctive raspy voice on and off screen but many are just discovering it’s all an act.

This week a clip of her being interviewed on the Golden Globes red carpet started doing the rounds on social media.

In it, the actress was chatting to presenter Matthew Friend, who imitated Jennifer’s trademark voice back to her.

‘This is Jennifer Coolidge sipping on a cool drink,’ he said, taking a sip from a bottle before declaring: ‘Oh gahd, ahh.’

Asking the actress what he thought of the impression, he queried: ‘Oh gahd, it’s not bahd. It could be worse? Oh gahd. Do you think it is good? Yes or no?’

‘It is good!’ she responded, but in a voice far from the one many know her for, adding that it was ‘up there’ with Ariana Grande’s famous impression of her.

While they laughed it all off, many were left gobsmacked hearing Jennifer speak in her ‘normal’ voice.

‘HOODWINKED AND FLABBERGASTED BECAUSE WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT ISN’T JENNIFER COOLIDGE’S REAL VOICE???????’ Cammy shared.

‘I just heard Jennifer Coolidge’s real voice and my brain is altered,’ Maf commented.

‘Just found out the iconic Jennifer Coolidge voice isn’t her real voice?????? what even is real and fake anymore???????’ Lulu added.

However, others said this realisation was old news, pointing out there was no hint of her signature voice in her first ever screen role in 1993.

‘Here’s your reminder we’ve known for 30 years that Jennifer Coolidge doesn’t always talk like “Jennifer Coolidge”,’ Richard wrote alongside a clip of her in Seinfeld.

After that first casting, Jennifer also appeared in Frasier, Sex and the City and Friends, but revealed in 2022 her career was ‘going through a dead zone’ before Ariana did an impression of her on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

She went on to star in the music video for Ariana’s song Thank U, Next, before being cast in The White Lotus, which premiered in 2021.

Jennifer has explained how playing Tanya McQuoid got ‘the ball rolling’ on her career again, with the starring role in the first two seasons of the show earning her two Emmys.
