Jamie Lee Curtis has proved she’s still got it, not that it was ever in any doubt that she hadn’t.

The 66-year-old had some fun recreating one of the famous scenes from the movie Perfect, demonstrating that she has the same fun spirit as when she was in her thirties.

In the 1995 rom-com she starred in alongside John Travolta, 70, their characters met at an aerobics class.

In one of the early scenes, gym instructor Jessie (Jamie) meets journalist Adam (John), who is writing an exposé on fitness clubs. Rather than communicate with any words, he simply joins her class which features some rather suggestive routines. Adam seems to quickly forget his assignment, and is instead focused on looking in Jessie’s direction as he copies the moves.

While the particular scene was standout and has become iconic, partly thanks to the amount of memes it has spawned, the rest of the feature wasn’t too well-received. The film was nominated for three Golden Raspberry Awards, which honours cinematic failures, and has an 18% Rotten Tomatoes rating. However, they’ve got a big defender in their corner – legendary director Quentin Tarantino has previously called the movie ‘greatly underappreciated’.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show, a short clip was played of the movie, and host Jimmy Fallon joked it featured ‘a lot of thrusting’.

‘That scene went on, I’m not kidding, for like five minutes,’ he pointed out, but Jamie quickly corrected him and said it was actually seven.

They then joked that there was more footage that had previously never been seen, but what actually played was a spoof version. This time Jimmy, 50, had taken on the role of enthusiastic class attendee. (FYI Perfect isn’t the only movie Jamie is revisiting, she’s currently working on a sequel to 2003 comedy Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan.)

Jamie looked incredible, once again wearing a replica of her costume leotard to lead the class. However, some key changes were made for the skit – rather than just gyrating and making suggestive eyes, this time Jamie was busy eating pizza, and pouring champagne over himself. Hilariously Jimmy also pulled a white dove out of his shorts, which flew away.

For the finale, two doctors wheeled in a stretcher with a patient under a sheet and Jamie grabbed a defibrillator, while still shaking her booty, then proceeded to shock the patient back to life. Jimmy joined her and the pair danced together while the patient writhed around under the sheet. After the spoof clip ended, Jamie and Jimmy were shown in the Tonight Show studio laughing at their efforts.

Jamie later called the sketch ‘some levity in really dark times’, referring tothe devastating wildfires raging across Los Angeles. She added on Instagram: ‘It was complicated to feel like we were making comedy in the midst of such a profound tragedy across the country, but we did. The hug he [Jimmy] gave me in support of my fragile feelings will always be remembered.’

To take part in the chat show to promote her new film The Last Showgirl, Jamie had flown from her home in the Californian city to New York, but intended to head straight back again.

‘I’m literally just about to cry. Mostly because of that beautiful welcome,’ she said at the start of the appearance.

‘As you know, where I live is on fire right now. Literally, the entire city of the Pacific Palisades is burning.’ Although Jamie’s home is safe, some of her neighbours’ homes have been destroyed.

‘I flew here last night. I was on the plane, and started getting texts. And it’s f*****g gnarly, you guys. It’s just a catastrophe in southern California,’ she said.

‘Obviously, there have been horrific fires in many places. This is literally where I live. Everything. The market I shop in. The schools my kids go to. Friends, many, many, many, many, many friends now have lost their homes.

‘So it is — it’s a really awful situation. I am, you know, obviously going to go home first thing tomorrow and be with my family and try to help my friends.’

She then urged viewers to support in any way that they can, whether that be by giving blood or donating money to charity American Red Cross.

More than 100,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes as six fires rage throughout the city, with the latest tearing through the Hollywood Hills after the original blaze began in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood.

At least 1,000 buildings have been destroyed, including the homes of several Hollywood stars, in what’s been described as the most destructive fire in the city’s history.
