Fans of The Traitors have spotted a potentially ‘massive mistake’ that could cost the Traitors in the game a chance at landing the prize fund.

The BBC gameshow, currently in the middle of its third series, gave us yet more drama on Thursday night as Tyler was sensationally – and incorrectly – banished by his fellow Faithfuls.

Contestant Livi took the incident to heart and left the roundtable in tears, convinced that Faithful Tyler is actually one of the two secret Traitors.

Of course, we all know that the two Traitors are actually Linda and Minah, who appear to be playing an absolute blinder at this moment in time.

However, the two women aiming to take everybody down might have made a potentially huge mistake when they tried to secretly recruit Anna to their side.

Anna received the letter from the Traitors, who called her a ‘strong, powerful woman’ before asking her to leave the Faithfuls behind. She rejected their proposal and remained a Faithful.

Not only were the Traitors spurned by their potential ally, but they might have just given away the fact that the Traitors have all been women so far this year.

On Reddit, Traitors viewer MattRFS wondered: ‘Writing “you’re a strong powerful woman” on the seduction letter to Anna is a HUGE mistake. If that get’s brought up it’s clear that the Traitors are likely all or majority women.’

Matt continued: ‘I think it could be what finally has people looking at Minah. The ghost of Elen is cackling right now.’

The Traitors has received criticism in the past for how some of its female contestants have been treated, and viewers have commended a perceived course correction this year by naming an all-female Traitors team.

However, other viewers responded to Matt to say that the move by the Traitors to seduce Anna based on her gender might play in their favour after all.

As Gremlin303 pointed out: ‘Like most things in this show it could also be used the other way. It could be a ploy to trick the Faithful.’

GlumPangolin agreed: ‘Maybe. Having a diversity of ideas is a strength though, so it could indicate an all-male team of Traitors who have lost Armani and feel like they need some additional X chromosomes.’

However, OldCareer thought otherwise: ‘No guy is ever going to say “strong powerful woman”. Not because they don’t think it, but it would come across as creepy if they did.’

In response to that, another viewer, MMBB, said they’d ‘seen nothing’ from the other contestants to suggest that they were capable of sussing out the Traitors even with such a massive clue.

‘Sometimes I think that, even with a big neon sign pointing at a Traitor, half of the Faithful would second guess it and vote for some random person based on the way they hold a pen or eat their breakfast.’

The Traitors continues on Friday night as the nation gets ready to watch the fallout from Tyler’s exit and to see whether Freddie can make it past the next roundtable.

The Traitors airs Monday, Thursday, and Friday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
