My Mum, Your Dad is taking a break after experiencing a problem people who are attracted to men sometimes complain about too.
Following two series – and one huge success story in Janey and Roger – the ITV dating show is struggling to find eligable middle-aged men.
After initial speculation, ITV confirmed to Metro that there won’t be any new episodes this year. ‘My Mum Your Dad achieved a fantastic audience response across its two series, and the show’s boxsets continue to deliver a strong performance on ITVX. There are currently no plans for a new series in 2025 owing to other priorities in our schedule,’ a spokesperson explained.
We understand that a lack of men applying to the show factored into it being shelved. There’s only one solution – someone at the broadcaster needs to get on the phone to Mother Nature and ask them to once again rearrange the sky, so that each and every woman can find their perfect guy (or at the very least, the four to six women taking part in the show).
This issue was originally reported by The Sun, with a source telling the publication: ‘Strangely there were lots of stunning women in the 45 to 65 bracket who wanted to take part, but a sad dearth of men who fitted the bill.’
This isn’t a new issue with the production reportedly only just being able to find enough older male suitors who were right for the second series, but a third outing proved too big of a challenge for the casting team.

However, there’s some hope for fans, they are not completely ghosting us, and instead they could be up for giving things a second chance.
ITV said: ‘We may revisit the show at some point beyond that.’ Fingers crossed, they aren’t just breadcrumbing viewers.

The show first premiered in 2023 after successful seasons in the USA and Australia. It was originally dubbed a ‘middle-aged Love Island’ and was praised for putting the dating loves of people over 40 centre stage.
Hosted by Davina McCall, the series begins with single parents being nominated for the experience by their children.
Over a few weeks, they get to know each other and find out if there were any possible romantic sparks in the setting of a beautiful country home. The catch is their offspring watch on from a different house. Rather than just indulging in some voyeurism, they also help somewhat control the narrative by choosing the date combinations, house activities and reward beneficiaries.
