WWE champion can’t wait to see ‘incredible’ Penta shine with next move-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro

Penta is about arrive in WWE, and Chelsea Green is exciting to see a familiar foe under the bright lights.

The first ever Women’s United States Champion faced off with the masked luchador – also known as Pentagon Jr – in Lucha Underground back in 2018, and she’s sure he’ll be a huge success whether it’s on Raw or SmackDown.

Speaking hours before his all-but-confirmed debut on tonight’s episode of Raw on Netflix, Chelsea exclusively told Metro: ‘If he’s coming to WWE, I can’t wait to watch him on Raw, on SmackDown, wherever it is that he comes.

‘He is incredible, such a talented human being. So I would be – oh my gosh!’ I would be so excited to work alongside him.’

The 33-year-old superstar has fond memories of locking horns with Penta, 39, almost seven years ago in Lucha Underground, a wrestling company which had a cinematic style that heavily influenced the current landscape.

Despite feeling like the bout came too soon, she is grateful for how Penta helped her through the experience.

‘With the Lucha Undeground match, I feel like a lot of things in my career, I have got before I’ve been ready for them, and it’s either a sink or swim moment,’ she explained.

‘I think that that was one of those sink or swim moments for me. I was given one of my first ever intergender matches on television, in front of this unbelievable crowd, and I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into.

‘And Pentagon held my hand and guided me through that entire match, from start to finish. Pentagon guided me through the entire thing. It was incredible.’

The match is one of the main bouts fans have shared clips from online in the buildup to Penta’s WWE debut, and Chelsea is glad to see it ‘stand the test of time’.

‘It keeps popping up every couple of years,’ she said. ‘It gives me a little bit of credibility. I’m just really thankful that I was able to have that moment with him.

‘And I had no idea how special it would be, but now, looking back on it, it’s a moment in my career that really defines the path that I chose next. So I’m I’m looking forward to whatever Pentagon does in the coming weeks.’

For Chelsea, has career has been a rollercoaster, as she got signed by WWE the same year as the Penta match, only for broken wrists to derail her momentum on two separate occasions.

She ended up getting released by the company during the pandemic in 2021, before returning at the 2023 Royal Rumble and working her way into the history books as the inaugural Women’s US Champion.

‘I’m so grateful, grateful and honored to be back, and be your first ever, your inaugural United States Women’s Champion,’ she beamed. ‘But I just don’t even think I can put into words the amount of work that’s gone into this, and the ups and downs that I’ve had.’

Chelsea’s delighted to be working her ‘dream job’, and enjoying every moment.

‘It’s just been such an unbelievable journey, one that I couldn’t even have wrote if I tried. And and I’m grateful for where it’s led me to,’ she said.

‘And now look at me. I’m in England, looking out at the most beautiful view, chatting with you about my dream job. It’s just, it’s really amazing.’
