Is there a new king of the jungle? Fashion editors reveal their fave animal print trends

NEXT.CO.UK, MASSIMODUTTI.COM, HM.COM, COS.COM

THEY say the lion is the king of the animal world, but it’s the leopard that has reigned supreme for the past few seasons.

However, for 2025, there are some other spots and stripes coming for the leopard crown!

This season animal prints are fiercer than ever – and any print goes.

While leopard still dominates the high street, tiger, snake, cow and zebra are hot on its heels, with brands falling in love with anything inspired by patterned animals.

Will you stick with spots? Or take stripes in your stride?

Here, the Fabulous fashion team reveal their top high-street buys in the hottest animal prints.

I have been loving leopard print for quite some time now – I have a fair few pieces in my wardrobe ranging from jackets and skirts to jeans.

However, when out shopping last week, I came across this gorgeous zebra-print jacket in Mango.

At £349.99 it’s a hefty price tag, but the quality was undeniable and it’s real leather, too.

And so my zebra obsession began – and my search so far has led me to find other gems, too.

These ballet flats from & Other Stories are super-cool, adding a pop of print that will make any outfit stand out, while this jumper from H&M looks comfy and comes with a matching knit skirt.

It’s easy for zebra print to look slightly dated, so my top tip would be to look for chunkier stripes or stylish silhouettes to keep you bang on-trend for the season ahead.

Leopard has never worked for me – there, I said it out loud!

Ganni’s unwavering commitment to leopard print, plus TikTok’s ability to fire a trend into the stratosphere and grow it into a cultural phenomenon, has meant that I can’t walk into a high-street shop without seeing rails and rails of it.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this big cat print on other people, it just doesn’t love me.

So, instead, step forward cow print, a softer more monotone style that feels subtle and easier to mix in with what’s already in my wardrobe.

A pair of cow-print jeans will look great with a white tee and a trench coat as the weather gets warmer.

Plus, I love the simple accessories.

Massimo Dutti’s cow-print ballet flats with dark jeans and a camel knit feels like an update that doesn’t have to try too hard.

Dress, £165 (was £235), Ganni at Flannels

I’ve been obsessed with leopard print since my days as a Topshop sales assistant (RIP Topshop), so I was thrilled when the trend came back last year.

These silky wide-leg trousers from Marks & Spencer remind me of a vintage Topshop pair I almost sold on Vinted.

While some might be over seeing the print everywhere, it’s clearly here to stay (sorry Tracey!).

Admittedly, it’s tricky to avoid the Kat Slater vibe, and Ganni’s viral pieces aren’t exactly budget-friendly.

This H&M cardigan is a brilliant dupe for this Ganni one, saving £317 and topping my wish list.

Or, ease into the trend with an accessory like this roomy Mango bag, perfect for all your essentials.

If you’re thinking of treating yourself to a Ganni piece, keep an eye on Flannels, as there are often discounts on past-season items.

I’ve had my eye on this dress for a while – it’s incredibly versatile, perfect for summer, and can be layered with a top for colder months.

And for those who adore leopard print and want to go all-out, this trench coat from Next is the perfect wardrobe addition.

Snake print isn’t a look I’ve previously found myself drawn to, but when it comes to standing out against a sea of spots and stripes in the animal kingdom, it’s a good one!

I’m not bold or brave enough to wear it in large and loud form but I do love it in accessories.

These pumps from COS are perfect for elevating jeans or plain black trousers.

This New Look bag is a must for me – I always like to be hands-free and this cross-body style does the trick while looking designer in a snake pattern that isn’t too garish.

I love this Mango blouse, too, the chiffon fabric makes it less heavy and in-your-face than traditional leather snake print and its muted tone makes it easy to wear with everything.

Finding your inner leopard

CLEMMIE FIELDSEND’s guide on how to wear the in-print well . . .

DOWNPLAY WITH DENIM:The saying “leopard is a neutral” has never been more true – which means it goes with everything, as do jeans. Go for a pair of leopard print denims for a relaxed feel. This is the perfect bottom for the end of summer and moving into autumn.
START SMALL:It might sound cliched but every stylist knows that if you are wary of a trend you should try it first in accessory form. A leopard print shoe is certainly worth trying and will instantly make your outfit stylish. Fashion icons Kate Moss and Alexa Chung made it effortlessly cool in the noughties. Even Elizabeth Taylor was a fan.
DO A DRESS:It doesn’t matter the silhouette, length or even the size of the leopard print – with a dress, all the hard work is done for you. You can simply throw it on and go, like Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley in Cannes. Channel your inner Sophia Loren. The print will make you feel confident, fierce and unstoppable.
MAKE IT THE FOCUS:With a busy print like leopard, the easiest way to wear it is to embrace it and make it the focal point of your look. For example, if you incorporate it as an accessory then keep the rest of your outfit neutral. And when wearing, don’t make it clash or try to work harder by mixing prints, it is meant to make a statement so let it.
BUT DON’T OVERKILL:However, while it is all well and good making leopard the focal point, don’t go overboard. A leopard coat with a leopard top, leopard skirt, leopard shoes, and a leopard bag may get you some looks on the street, but for all the wrong reasons. So choose your pieces wisely. That doesn’t mean to say you can’t wear a leopard co-ord, but then accessorise with something plainer.
FIND YOUR SHADE:No leopard is created equal, so know what will suit your hair colouring when you are looking for a shade of the yellow or sometimes brown base. A paler-coloured creamy style will complement blonde or lighter red hair, rich and deeper coloured bases are perfect for dark reds.
