Iconic Australian Actress Rebel Wilson has spilled the tea on the behind-the-scenes drama on hit film, Bridesmaids.

The classic 2011 chick flick featured the Pitch Perfect star in a small role as Brynn – Kristen Wiig’s roommate.

Recently, Wilson unveiled that there were financial issues behind the scenes that have made a sequel unlikely.

Speaking on Australia’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Wilson spoke about how the film made significantly more money than expected which caused tension as writers Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig were paid the minimum standard rate by the studio.

Rebel hinted at writers Mumolo and Wiig feeling cheated by the studio as they wrote a box office hit and did not receive the credit they were hoping for (literally).

‘It had a lot of behind-the-scenes drama and a lot to do with the financials because that movie was hugely successful,’ The Fat Amy star shared.

‘And Kristen (Wiig)and Annie (Mumolo) wrote the movie. Yeah. And were paid scale. And, you know, that’s not very much money. It’s basically nothing. And then you know, the movie was a huge hit, and it was, I think, there were some issues.’

The hilarious comedy soared at the box office, making just over $324million (£262M).

Starring Maya Rudolph, Rose Bryne, Melissa McCarthy and many other Hollywood stars, the film scored itself an excellent Rotten Tomatoes rating of 89%.

Rebel Wilson went on to say that she also auditioned to be part of the Marvel cinematic universe in the 2022 TV show, She Hulk: Attorney at Law.

However Wilson was snubbed after the part was given to Canadian actress, Tatiana Maslany.

The Australian actress studied law at University and got her Bachelor’s of Law degree back in 2009.

Speaking on missing out on the role Rebel said, ‘I didn’t end up getting it. But she was a lawyer by day, the character. And I’m like, well, I’m a lawyer. So, I thought maybe I have a chance.’

But its not all rain clouds for Rebel as she recently married her partner, Ramona Agruma, in the summer of last year.

The newly weds welcomed their daughter, Royce Lillian, in to the world back in 2022.
