Disney Plus fans predict a new thriller will be ‘the watercooler TV show of 2025’ after bingeing the first batch of episodes.

Paradise follows the implosion of a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals including the US president after a shocking murder.

Starring James Marsden and Sterling K Brown, the eight episodes take viewers along the twists and turns of the high-stakes investigation.

The gripping drama was created by Dan Fogelman, also known as the creative genius behind film Crazy, Stupid, Love and TV series This Is Us.

Since the first three episodes dropped on the streamer earlier this week, viewers have been raving about Paradise on social media.

Among them is @changethetidess, who enthused: ‘Just watched the premiere of #Paradise on Hulu! The twist at the end had me slapping my knee and saying “no way!” So good. Want another episode right away.’

@NLinnane exclaimed: ‘I’m predicting #Paradise on hulu will be the water cooler tv show of 2025. Episode 1 was better than bloody good.’

Echoing their sentiment, @Legobro said: ‘#ParadiseHulu just blew my mind, it is excellent.’

@mkingsle wrote: ‘Paradise is must-watch TV. Well done @hulu, well done. #ParadiseHulu.’

@LinziP also added: ‘Loved this first episode – one of the best shows I’ve watched in a long time (and I watch a LOT of tv) wish they’d release all the episodes!! #Paradise#ParadiseHulu#DisneyPlus.’

Viewers will be delighted that creator Dan said he had already mapped out a further two seasons of Paradise.

He also said his ‘goal’ was to have season two air in a matter of months rather than an agonising years-long wait.

‘We have almost the whole season broken, and almost written now,’ Dan told Variety.

‘The fundamental problem in streaming is these shows that people get hooked on then go off the air for two and a half years. And so my goal is to have this thing back on television at least within a year.’

Paradise is not the only TV show on Disney Plus that has been gripping viewers after High Potential landed on the platform in the UK.

First airing in the United States in September last year, High Potential is based on the French/ Belgian TV series HPI, which itself aired in 2021.

The series stars Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Hacks) as single mother of three Morgan, who works as a cleaning lady for the Los Angeles Police Department.

However, after she manages to solve a case – having a high IQ of 160 – she is hired as a consultant for the LAPD’s Major Crimes division.

At the same time Morgan also utilises the LAPD’s resources to investigate what happened to the father of her eldest daughter, who disappeared years earlier.

The series, which so far holds a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, has been praised by both critics and fans alike.

‘Such a binge worthy show and I love how fun but also at the edge of your seat the whole time,’ Greyson wrote.

Yvonne added: ‘Love this show!! It’s refreshing, funny, light-hearted, smart & has good crimes.’

Paradise is available to stream on Disney Plus.
