This Morning resident therapist Eva Speakman defended her husband Nik Speakman after comments were made about his face.

The life-change experts appeared on the ITV daytime show to give their advice to viewers including how to feel gratitude in everyday life.

After the TV show, the couple took to Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes snaps of their most recent visit to set.

However, instead of focusing on their small screen contribution, the account Biljana66 wrote: ‘Nice couple but tell your husband to stop with the filler.’ The comment was liked 38 times, and so Eva, 55, had her say.

‘Please don’t be judgemental,’ she began. ‘He’s on steroids and can’t help the effect.’

She later added: ‘They definitely bloat your face sadly but luckily once off them, all should go back to normal.’

Others flooded the comments section to defend Nik, 63, and share their own experiences.

GailKearsley said: ‘Clearly a steroid side effect, my mum had exactly the same. Such a mean comment to make.’ Eva agreed: ‘Really don’t get it but clearly people that make these comments desperately want some attention.’ Others called the words ‘rude’ and ‘bloody horrible’ with Eva agreeing by liking their messages.

Eva didn’t speak about why Nik was taking the medication, but he has previously opened up about having ulcerative colitis. The long-term inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) causes inflammation and ulcers in the colon and rectum, and sufferers can be prescribed steroids.

Speaking about his diagnosis at 19, Nik said: ‘One day I collapsed. I’d gone completely grey. I ended up in hospital and after a barium enema, one of the most painful experiences of my life, the consultant showed me an X-ray. My bowel looked as if someone had fired a shotgun at it. It was a mess.’

Cat Deeley recently thanked them for introducing her to the phrase ‘But luckily…’ . They advise people to say the two words whenever they think something negative to shift the narrative.

On This Morning, viewers can call into the show to get their advice on a range of problems. They’ve also released multiple self-help books, and host podcast, Handbook to Happiness.
