Madonna has made a statement about Donald Trump’s government on social media, encouraging her fans to keep up the fight.

The Like A Virgin singer, 66, has taken aim at Trump in a new tweet to her millions of followers on X.

The pop Queen has a huge LGBTQ+ following and posted a defiant image and caption on social media to her fans.

‘It’s so sad to watch our new Government slowly dismantling all the Freedoms we have been fighting for and WON over the years.

‘Don’t give up the Fight!’ she said.

The singer has always supported the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, and in the 90s was known for campaigning and providing financial and moral support to people affected by HIV and AIDS.

She also won the Advocate for Change Award accolade at the GLAAD Media Awards in 2019 for her activism.

The message comes after the US’s new republican government announced it would be stripping back rights for marginalised groups and had signed an order banning transgender people from serving and enlisting in the military.

Sarah Kate Ellis, the president and CEO of GLAAD, said of Trump bringing back the military ban: ‘Transgender people are already serving in the military with honour and keeping our country and military safer and stronger. They meet the same rigorous health and readiness standards and continue to do so.

‘The Trump administration’s inaccurate statements and rhetoric targeting transgender people are not based on facts. LGBTQ Americans have been here before, ending ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ and Trump’s previous trans military ban.

‘Research and military experts have made it loud and clear that targeting service members because of who they are is blatantly discriminatory and makes our country less safe.’

Trump’s executive orders made in the first few days of his presidency have specifically targeted subjects affecting transgender, nonbinary and intersex Americans.

Part of one order that prevents gender affirmation surgery on under 19s read: ‘It is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called “transition” of a child from one sex to another, and it will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures.’

The order then labelled gender-affirming care ‘mutilation.’

Other celebrities have also spoken out against Trump’s recent policies.

Since the inauguration, the Trump administration has increased deportation efforts at the southern border.

Selena Gomez, 32, reacted to Trump’s threat to deport masses of undocumented immigrants, by releasing a video of her sobbing to camera as she apologised for the fear that has struck countless families.

‘I just wanna say that I am so sorry,’ the actress said through tears and wiped her eyes and said:‘All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand.

‘I’m so sorry; I wish I could do something but I can’t.’

She continued in the now-deleted video: ‘I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.’
