WWE superstar Asuka has revealed she felt ‘in danger’ and urged fans to respect her boundaries.

The 43-year-old wrestler, who has been out of action since May last year after undergoing surgery for a knee injury, has contacted the police and suggested she no longer feels comfortable in public.

She wrote on X: ‘I’ve been feeling in danger recently. I’ve already consulted the police.

‘At this rate, even if fans approach me at the airport or in the city, I will feel the possibility that something might happen, and it will scare me, making me unable to respond.’

Although the former world champion didn’t confirm a specific situation, she referenced fans making ‘romantic or personal approaches’.

‘I absolutely reject any romantic or personal approaches toward me. There is absolutely no possibility for others to interfere in my private life,’ she said, adding: ‘Please don’t have romantic feelings for me. It’s meaningless—100% pointless.’

The Empress of Tomorrow is one of WWE’s top superstars, and fans were gutted when she confirmed she was stepping away to get help for a knee injury.

‘After the Backlash of my European tour, I had to take a break to treat my knee that I had been hurting for a while,’ she revealed at the time.

‘My [tag] partners Kairi [Sane] and Dakota [Kai] helped me a lot during this tour as I could not move at my best. I am very grateful to both of them.’

Her most recent match was on May 4 at Backlash France in Lyon, where she and Kairi – collectively known as the Kabuki Warriors, and part of Damage CTRL – lost to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.

Fans are hoping she will be making a return soon, and Fightful Select recently reported that creative plans have been pitched for her, suggesting a comeback could be in the works.

It’s said the pitch was around a tag match which has been dismissed, while there has been no word about whether or not been back at the Performance Center for training.

Asuka has hit plenty of highs in her career, including winning the first ever women’s Royal Rumble back in 2018, with a world championship and four tag team titles runs to her name, as well as holding the NXT Women’s Title for a record 510 days, and going on a 914-day undefeated streak.

However, after a fan recently complained that she’s not won at WrestleMania yet, she replied on X: ‘Every time I achieve a victory or set a record, people desperately search for what I haven’t obtained yet and say, “You still don’t have this.”

‘That system is endless, and I’m sick of it. I want them to stop obsessively looking for what I haven’t achieved. Their way of thinking is just too negative.

‘Was a WrestleMania win or loss ever considered a title like winning the Royal Rumble? This is just an issue that someone forcefully brought up against me. It’s absolutely ridiculous.’

Last year, Damage CTRL lost to Bianca, Jade and Naomi, while in 2023 Bianca beat Asuka to retain her title.

She wasn’t on the card in 2022, but in 2021 she lost her gold to Rhea Ripley, having lost the tag titles with Kairi the previous year in a bout with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.

She didn’t win the Women’s Battle Royal on the Kickoff in 2019, and her undefeated streak ended at the hands of Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 in 2018.
