Fantastic Four is set for another reboot, but already there are warning signs to fans that this new film may be another disaster.

The Fantastic Four comic was first brought to screen in 2005, and while the film made money it was critically panned and earned just a 28% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

But then came the 2015 reboot. Scoring just 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, the $120 million (£91 million) project was a major flop that earned several Razzie awards including worst director and worst picture.

There were numerous and wide-ranging problems in the film iterations of 2005 and 2015, and now fans are concerned that the Fantastic Four curse is set to strike again as more problems crop up in the new promotional campaign for the film.

A teaser trailer released on February 3 showed a group of children excitedly running to a shopfront to look at a TV screen inside the window.

While the 20-second scene was meant only to tease, it ended up tormenting fans who were infuriated when forced to listen to the same children’s laugh track played on a loop multiple times.

Viewers immediately took to the comment section to complain.

‘And I thought *I* was bad at sound design,’ said cinemint on X.

‘The weird fake child laughter pulls me out of it,’ said jkbaker1117.

‘For the love of god please stop using that same stock sound of children laughing,’ said alt_Psymon.

And the fake laugh track wasn’t the only problem. The release of the poster for the film earned a great deal of fan criticism as many insisted that AI technology must have been used.

The speculation began online when fans noticed that the same face appeared twice in a poster, and some of the people in the crowd shot were missing fingers.

‘This is AI slop. Dude only has three fingers and a thumb. Do better Disney,’ said JRockDraws.

‘What the hell is this AI bulls**t,’ said RedWave1001.

‘I didn’t know that MARVEL is going bankrupt and doesn’t have enough money to hire real artists,’ said Nakkkoelaaa.

‘Billions of dollars and you can’t even make a poster,’ Nadir3887 commented.

Additionally, Marvel Studios has admitted to using AI before, when it came to creating the opening sequence of its Disney+ series Secret Invasion.

A representative from Marvel Studios told Deadline that AI wasn’t used.
