Bargain Hunt star Charles Hanson has been seen arriving at court after being accused of assault and controlling or coercive behaviour.
In June 2023, police were called to a property in Derbyshire following reports of a domestic incident taking place.
Hanson – an auctioneer who’s appeared on TV shows including Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip – has since been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm between May 13 and 17 2020, and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour between May 2015 and June 2023.
In February 2024, the 46-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges at Derby Crown Court. The charges related to his wife, Rebecca Hanson.
Today, Hanson arrived back at the same court to stand trial, having previously been told the trial would last between seven and 10 days.
The auctioneer wore a black coat with a pale blue shirt and a green tie for the court date, holding up a blue umbrella to shield himself from the rain.

In February last year, the judge informed Hanson: ‘Mr Hanson, I am adjourning your case for trial next year. I have to tell you these things I am about to say.
‘You must turn up for the trial, if you do not, you could be sent to prison and the trial could carry on without you.’
Hanson was released on bail with conditions not to go to the family home in Quarndon or to contact his wife.
He and his spouse have been married since 2010 and they share two children.

In a statement released in December 2023, Hanson denied all of the charges that had been made against him.
‘I deny all the charges. I have never behaved aggressively or unlawfully towards my family,’ he told MailOnline.
‘We have been through some difficult times in our marriage and it is extremely sad that this has become a criminal matter.
‘I will be co-operating fully with the investigation and legal process.’
