Shakira has cancelled her latest show in Peru from the hospital after rushing to the ER with abdominal pain.

The Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker, 48, is currently on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.

She was meant to be performing in Lima, Peru tonight but confirmed the show would not be going ahead as she remains hospitalised following a health scare.

The singer said in a statement: ‘I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised.

‘The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.

‘I am very sad to not be able to take to the stage today, I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans in Peru.

‘I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform. My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you.

‘Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all. Shak.’

Shakira has another date in Lima tomorrow night before heading to Colombia for a series of shows until the end of February.

In September the music artist raised concern among fans when she abruptly left the stage at LIV Miami after a strange interaction with an audience member.

But a source clarified to Metro that nothing dramatic had taken place, she had simply ‘realised she shouldn’t stand there and so moved – no big deal – she had an amazing day and so much fun with the video.’

Earlier this month, Shakira won the Grammy award for best Latin pop album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.

In her acceptance speech, she said: ‘I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters. In this country, you’re loved, you’re worth it, and I will always fight with you.

‘And to all of those women who work really hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true she-wolves, so this is for you, too.

‘I want to share this award with my kids, Milan and Sasha, who are here with me. I’m so proud of you guys of your kind hearts. Thank you so much for supporting me the way you do. I love you. Thank you.’
