Maura Higgins downs shots with Margot Robbie during boozy lunch in London-Emily Bashforth-Entertainment – Metro

After a turbulent few weeks of intense scrutiny, Maura Higgins has been letting her hair down with a Hollywood icon.

The Irish influencer, 34, and singer Danny Jones, 39, made headlines at the start of the month by sharing a drunken kiss at a Brit Awards afterparty.

While Maura, who is single, has not publicly commented on the salacious smooch, Danny, who has been married to wife Georgia for 11 years, issued an apology, writing that he wishes to ‘deeply apologise’ to those his actions impacted.

Clearly keen to put the drama behind her, though, Maura has been brushing shoulders with celebs of a different calibre, as she enjoyed a boozy London lunch with Margot Robbie.

The Barbie actress, 34, has made no secret of her love for Love Island, on which Maura found fame in 2019.

So, upon discovering they were going to be in the capital at the same time, it seems the Suicide Squad star couldn’t resist a little networking.

Taking to her Instagram Story this afternoon, Maura posted a stunning selfie taken on a rooftop bar.

Wearing oversized designer shades and a ruffled white top, she styled her brunette locks in casual waves and pouted for the camera.

‘When Margot Robbie invites you to lunch… you go’, her caption read.

She followed the pic with a short video of Margot toasting a ‘cheers’ as the group downed shots of her Papa Salt Coastal gin.

‘Got me on shots at 2pm WHAT A WOMAN!!!!’, Maura wrote.

The Australian movie star is currently in the UK filming for the hotly anticipated adaptation of Wuthering Heights, in which she stars opposite Jacob Elordi.

So, on the rare day she managed to enjoy some time off, Margot put her celebrity status to good use.

She’s been an avid Love Island viewer since she shared a house with six friends in Clapham in 2016, before really hitting the big time and moving to her £2.1million mansion in Los Angeles.

Reflecting on that period of her life in the four-bedroom flat, comically dubbed The Manor, Margot previously said: ‘Love Island reminds me of living in London—watching it with my girlfriends when everybody was home from work.

‘Those were the best days of my life. For me, where you live and what you do have to be simplistic and comfortable; otherwise, how are you possibly going to relax?’ 

Margot, who is now married to Tom Ackerley and welcomed her first child last year, has built up some pretty solid connections with past Love Islanders over the years.

At the Barbie premiere, the unashamed fangirl was more than happy to take selfies with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and her then-boyfriend, Davide Sanclimenti.

Dancing On Ice contestant Chris Taylor even managed to bag himself a role in Greta Gerwig’s film, which Margot also produced.

The 34-year-old had a part less than 30 seconds long as he portrayed a version of Ken, which acting titans Ryan Gosling, Ncuti Gatwa, and Simu Li also played.

Revealing exactly how he booked the job, Chris explained that it was far from a conventional audition process.

While he was busting out some moves at a premiere afterparty, Margot made her way over to him and, to Chris’s astonishment, knew his name.

He told OK! Magazine: ‘So, I basically went down the route of telling her about my mate who’s got a micropenis.

‘I informed her of that, and we had a little chat about micropenises, which was lovely and quite funny.

‘And then I went on to tell her about my dad’s mate whose balls are so big, he can carry 12 bottles of Budweiser on his ballsack like a tray.’

After that, Warner Bros. gave him a call and asked him to be part of Barbie… the rest is history!

Chris previously added: ‘I’m fairly certain that’s how it went down, but the only confirmation I’ve really got is that her husband, Tom Ackerley, said to me at the (Barbie) premiere that Margot was like, “We have to get Chris in this film”.’
