Katy Perry is about to make history, and she’ll add a bit of ‘spice’ while doing it.

The ET singer, 40, is just one day away from embarking on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin history-making space trip, and a surprising new detail about the all-female crew’s spacesuits has been revealed.

Sharing an image on Instagram, the star showed off her and the crew’s tailor-made blue suits, with an insider revealing what’s hiding underneath them: Skims underwear.

Thinking of everything, right down to the nitty-gritty, the Amazon boss’ fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, had the suits redesigned to not only fit a woman but to ‘bring a little spice to space’.

Her collaborators, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, who are the creative directors of Oscar de la Renta and co-founders of the brand Monse, told the New York Times that Lauren thought of everything and knew exactly who to call when it came to supplying the women’s underwear, her celeb pal, Kim Kardashian.

Fernando told the news outlet:  ‘We even had a meeting on what underwear Lauren is going to wear…to which she responded: “Skims!”‘

It comes as Katy, who will become the first popstar to go to space, shared that she is ‘psychologically’ preparing by listening to those who know best, including Carl Sagan.

Watching his 13-part Cosmos docuseries, Katy revealed she has also been reading a book on string theory and looking inward for strength and confidence.

Speaking to media at her Southern California rehearsal space earlier this week, the star discussed how she is feeling about the flight, which is scheduled to take off on Monday, April 14.

‘I’ve always been interested in astrophysics and interested in astronomy and astrology and the stars. We are all made of stardust, and we all come from the stars,’ she told the Associated Press.

Admitting she is ‘really excited about the engineering of it all’ and learning about STEM and math, she said she is also using her preparation time to tell herself positive affirmations and remind herself of the impact this trip will have on the next generation.

‘I am talking to myself every day and going, “You’re brave, you’re bold, you are doing this for the next generation to inspire so many different people but especially young girls to go, ‘I’ll go to space in the future.’” No limitations.’

Katy, who shares four-year-old Daisy with her fiance Orlando Bloom, said since having her daughter, her ‘feminine divine’ has not only ‘unlocked’ but ‘levelled up’ and has found that becoming a mum has given her more ‘power’.

The star, known for her empowering anthems, including Roar and Woman’s World, is currently at training camp in Texas with her other crew members.

TV host and journalist Gayle King is among them, as is Aisha Bowe, who was employed as an aerospace engineer by NASA and serves as CEO of technology company Stemboar.

Civil rights activist and research scientist Amanda Nguyen, who has a space background and has previously worked on NASA space shuttle missions will also fly, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, who has long expressed her desire to explore space.

The journey will be the 31st flight in the New Shepard rocket ship, and the first to be solely made up of women since 1963, when Russian astronaut Valentina Tereshkova had a solo space flight.

Blue Origin bosses announced the date at the end of last month, with the official Instagram account telling fans: ‘Just over two weeks until the NS-31 crew embarks on the journey of a lifetime and experiences the Overview Effect firsthand.

‘New Shepard’s crewed NS-31 mission is targeting liftoff from Launch Site One in the West Texas high desert on April 14 at 8:30 a.m. Central (13:30 UTC).’

The rocket reportedly flies itself, and the trip is expected to last 11 minutes in total.

Katy and her crew received criticism when the trip was announced in February, including from X-Men actress Olivia Munn, who called it a ‘pointless’ and ‘gluttonous’ trip.

‘I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now,’ Munn said, wondering what could be achieved from the 11-minute flight.

‘What are you guys gonna do up in space? What are you doing up there?’ she asked. ‘If you wanna go to space, why do you need to tell us about it, you know? It’s just like, go up there, have a good time, come on down.’
