I’m a pro at flipping car boot bargains – I sold a £10 jacket for £120 but jealous trolls tell me to ‘get a real job’
HE’S found himself a successful little side hustle – buying bargains at the boot sale and flipping them for a profit.
But Benji still gets targeted by trolls, who can’t help but leave cruel comments when he shares how much money he’s made on Vinted.

In a recent TikTok, Benji shared a selection of items he’d bought at boot sales and sold on Vinted – as well as how much he’d picked them up and passed them on for.
He kicked off with a men’s vintage Burberry quilted jacket – bought for £15 and sold for £30.
An Oakley quarter zip he paid £2 for fetched him a tenner on Vinted, while he also managed to pick up a pair of Levi 502 shorts for 50p, sold on for £10.
It’s not only men’s clothes he buys though – he also picked up a knitted Ralph Lauren jumper in a size 6, which he bought for £3 and sold for £15.
One of the most impressive flips he achieved though was with a vintage 2004 Stone Island Rosa Gommato jacket.
Despite spending just £10 on the jacket at the bootie, he ended up parting ways with it for £120.
He also picked up a pair of ACW x Roa hiking boots in a size 7.5 – bought for £5 and sold for £60.
And while many people took Benji up on his offer to follow him for reselling “tips and tricks”, others used the comments section to slam him for the profit-making scheme.
“Scruffy asf,” one raged.
“Get a real job!”
As others defended Benji, with someone hitting back: “It’s no different from retailers buying from factories and hiking the price!”
While another questioned: “How is it scruffy?
“It’s called being smart and making a bit of spare cash! Stop being a hater.”
“How long are these listings online before they sale?” someone else asked.
With Benji replying: “All of these sold within 1-2 days!”
“Bro did not buy a stoney for £10!” another gasped.
How to bag a boot sale bargain
Becky Chorlton is a boot sale pro, and regularly finds bargain pieces to sell on for a profit. Here’s her top eight tips on how to scout out the hidden gems at your local car boot sale.
Be organised – find out when and where your local boot sale is
Bring loose change, and empty bags
Be an early bird to get the best bargains
Have an open mind, look out for unique pieces and don’t search for just one item
Search high and low – have a rummage through boxes, cases and containers sellers have at their stalls
Buy for all seasons – you’re more likely to find a summer bargain in the winter, and vice versa
Check your purchases over – make sure you are happy with your item before you hand over any cash
Barter to your heart’s content – it’s all part of the fun of being at a boot sale!
“At car boots there’s a lot of house clearance people getting rid of things they found as an extra way to get cash,” Benji responded.
“A lot of the time they have no clue what these things are worth!”
“I bought a genuine Off White top in a charity shop once for £2,” another wrote.
“Had thing authenticated because I was shoooook!”
“Can smell Vinted sellers a mile off so never sell to them at car boots,” someone else insisted.
With Benji insisting “that’s discrimination”.
