The Great House Giveaway viewers all have the same complaint over participant’s kitchen
SUNDAY night’s episode of The Great House Giveaway saw an incredible property flip take place.
Strangers Sarah and Paige from Stafford, west Midlands were teamed up by the Channel 4 show, and challenged to renovate a home together.
Paige and Sarah haggled a stylish kitchen for a budget price
The kitchen was an absolute state pre-renovation
They chose a crumbling Victorian terrace property, which cost £118,000 to buy, and managed to do it up with a tight budget.
The duo were over the moon to have landed some bargains whilst doing up the house, with penny-pinching Sarah proud of her frugal ways.
She managed to renovate the garden for only £120, and landed an incredible deal for the kitchen.
However, the latter didn’t go down well with fans, who didn’t believe quite how cheap it was to renovate.
On the show, they explain that they managed to get the kitchen units and appliances, along with some extras thrown in, all for a tidy sum of £1,500.
This riled up some of its viewers, who rushed to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One tweeted: “Hi @HowdensJoinery, just wondering in which branch I can get a whole new kitchen, appliances, 2 doors and laminate flooring for my entire house for £1.5k, is having a prime time channel 4 show absolutely necessary?
“What if I bring my own camera crew? #thegreathousegiveaway“.

Others agreed, as one wrote: “#TheGreatHouseGiveaway is a decent concept but badly executed.
“‘Managed to negotiate a full kitchen, flooring and doors for £1.5k’. Yep, very realistic, along with all the other major expenses costing close to nothing.”
They added that this: “Makes using ‘actual costs’ rather pointless.”
Fans’ theories aside, Sarah and Paige’s renovating paid off massively, despite them going £4,043 over their £12,000 budget.
Sarah put that down to primarily the windows and doors, which were all in drastic need of repair.
Additional costs such as solicitor fees and stamp duty brought their overall total to £156,819.
It was then revealed that the house had sold for an impressive £205,000, which brought their overall profit to £48,181.
