Many residents lead a chequered love life in the eponymous village.

However, this hasn’t stopped actress Laura Norton from finding the love of her life in the form of actor Mark Jordon who played Daz Spencer in 2014 and again between 2017 and 2019.

The pair met on the set of the long-running ITV soap and got engaged in 2018.

In January, 2021, the couple even welcomed a baby son named Jesse and Laura has since shared loved-up snaps of her off-screen life on her Instagram account.

Speaking to media outlet Inside Soap, Laura revealed the spark between the couple was far from instant and developed down the line.

This was mostly due to Mark’s short stint in the programme.

“It wasn’t love at first sight”, she revealed, “We didn’t have a chance to get to know each other properly at first as Mark was only there for two weeks.”

She added: “Our paths crossed later, we became close friends, then the unexpected happened and now we have a baby – it’s bizarre when I think about it!”

Since his last appearance in the village in January, 2019, Daz has stayed in Croydon after sleeping in the rough on the streets of Hotten.

Laura tied the knot with Mark’s on-screen brother, Dan, portrayed by Liam Fox, with whom his character has shared a rocky relationship.

The actress keeps a fond memory of her wedding scenes and has deemed them “brilliant.”

“We were filming 12 episodes a fortnight building up to it, and then we had this huge ceremony”, Laura said.

“It was summer, the weather was amazing – so were the costumes – and then we had to learn this ridiculous dance to Beyoncé. It was so much fun!”

While Kerry has formed a close-knitted bond with her daughter Amy and has remained friendly with Dan, as both look out for young Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell), Laura has noticed her character hasn’t formed any more friendships with fellow residents.

“I find Kerry to be a bit of a loner as she always has a lot on”, she continued.

“In a way, she’s everybody’s friend and nobody’s friend because she’s a good-time girl.”

“But I do think about Kerry and Paddy being best friends, there’s something in that. And whenever I have a scene with Dominic Brunt, it’s always hysterical!”

More recently, Kerry has been romantically involved with scheming businessman Al Chapman, played by Michael Wildman.
