Though she is no longer with us, her memory and accomplishments will keep on inspiring millions of people. When she died, her daughter Mary Ruth Joyner was only seven-year-old but now she is herself a mother.

In the late 80s, Florence Griffith-Joyner was a force tough to compete with. She was simply unstoppable on the track. With two world records and three Olympic gold medals under her name, Flo-Jo is one of the most incredible female track athletes the world has ever seen.

While the mother left a great name, her daughter is carrying forward her legacy. However, she is not a track athlete like her mother. Instead, she became a singer-songwriter, dancer, producer, musician, and performer. But as far as her popularity is concerned, she is indeed making her mother proud.

Since her early days, Mary was a vibrant child and excelled at a lot of things. She was part of the school choir and pursued music as a major in college, but the most prominent highlight of her career came with her entry into America’s Got Talent. Though she didn’t win the competition, her career got the kick-start she was searching for. Today, she is a renowned musician and producer. Flo Jo would have been so proud of her daughter.

How did Flo Jo die?

Unfortunately, the legend died in her sleep due to an epileptic seizure. It was shocking news for the entire world as they lost a true gem that day. The incident occurred when Mary was just seven-year-old. However, since 1998, the singer has come a long way, and she herself has a family now.

From a little girl who lost her mother to a successful artist, Mary has had a challenging journey. Though her mother’s legacy was always there to guide her in tough times and will continue to do so.
