“You Gotta Be Horsesh*t**g Me” – Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez Overjoyed as Nephew Joe Dunand Homers in First Big-League At-Bat

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez may have last featured in MLB in 2016 for the Yankees, but baseball just refuses to let go of him. Likewise, the Rodriguez family doesn’t seem to be done with sport either.

The celebrated shortstop enjoyed a stellar career in MLB with an impressive record across the league. But with the star now a spectator and often times a commentator for the sport, his family continues to contribute.

And although his nephew Joe Dunand will grow to find his own stardom, Alex Rodriguez will definitely be a proud uncle.

Family legacies are no stranger to MLB. With Vlad Guerrero Sr. and Jr. both dominating pitchers from home plate, they were only a continuation of the legacy established by Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. And even though Rodriguez and his nephew may not be active, it certainly helps to have a foothold in the big leagues. Rodriguez seemed all too glad to welcome the young buck with his performances.

But how far do you think he can go?

Rodriguez seemed to host a watch party as he saw his young nephew at his first big league at-bat. With several well-wishers around, they saw Dunand in his first at-bat for the Miami Marlins against the San Diego Padres.

At the top of the 3rd and with a 1-1 count, Dunand swung and swung true to dispatch one into deep left field. Clearing the field, and the bases, Dunand sent the crowd and Rodriguez’s watch party into raptures with the barrel pop. The 46-YO egged the ball on with calls of, “Oh God! Oh God!” as the ball made its way across the ballpark.

As the pitch landed in the bleachers, Rodriguez could only muster a reaction worthy of the hit- “You gotta be horsesh*t**g me!”

Joe Dunand was born in the year that A-Rod made his big league start. The commentator, too, stated how Dunand entered the world when his uncle had logged only 60 major league appearances. And while he must have undoubtedly felt the weight of legacy on his shoulders, he has delivered in his first showing. He now only has 695 to go before he catches up with his uncle.
