Jessica Korda Bemoans Despite Spot-On Kentucky Derby Prediction

Golf professionals, much like the pros of any other global sport, enjoy watching other sporting events too. Among the fixtures that golfers and other celebrities anticipate for the whole year is the Kentucky Derby. Likewise, American golfer Jessica Korda recently shared an Instagram story about the same and made a striking revelation about her pick for the race.

Jessica is among the top professionals in the female golf circuit. The IG story that she shared a few hours back, contained an image of herself with an interesting caption.

On May 7th, she uploaded the story through her official Instagram account which was about the Kentucky Derby. Notably, the Derby means the same as Masters at Augusta National means for golf fans.

Interestingly, Korda had her bets on the underdog, Rich Strike, who ultimately won the race, beating probably some of the best and the most experienced.

The female professional uploaded a picture of herself with a short message. The message said, “Casually just picked the winner of the derby.. only because I like an underdog.. wish I put money where my mouth is” It looks like she should have put her money on the underdog.

Moreover, there is a considerable similarity between the Derby and golf. In both sports, we should never underestimate the underdogs as they can surprise even the best players in the sport.

On top of that, Rich did not only win, but also created history. She closed out the race with an 80-1 odds, the longest among all the 20 horses. As a result, It is the second-largest upset in the Kentucky Derby’s history of 148 years. The first upset came in 1913 when Donerail won the race with 90-1 odds.

When did Jessica Korda last play on the LPGA Tour?

It was the first major championship of the season, and Korda made a solid finish to the event. Moreover, she ended the event with an overall score of 12-under-par. As a result, Korda finished in the runner-up position, just two shots behind the leader. Jessica carded a final round of three-under-par, 69 to finish in solo second position on the leaderboard. 

Her final round of 69 included one eagle and eight pars on the opening nine holes. As a result, she moved out in two-under-par, 32. Korda made two birdies and one bogey on the back nine to make a strong finish to the major championship event.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Kupcho won the event. She ended the event with an overall score of 14-under-par. Kupcho carded a final round of two-over-par, 74 to finish on the top of the star-studded leaderboard. When will she be back?
