‘What a Great Tournament’ – Rafael Nadal Sends Congratulatory Message to Carlos Alcaraz Following His Historic Win at Madrid Open 2022

Today, the tennis world saw one of the one-sided final matches at the Madrid Open between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev. In this match, the world no.9 Carlos Alcaraz got the better of the German player to win his second Masters 1000 title of the season. The world no.3 didn’t pose a any threat to the Spaniard, as the homeboy destroyed him in straight sets. Meanwhile, his fellow compatriot, Rafael Nadal, reacted with pure joy after Alcaraz won the title at the Madrid Open. 

Carlos Alcaraz destroyed Alexander Zverev in a one-sided Madrid Open final 

Fans were already hyped for the final, as both the players played some unbelievable tennis throughout the tournament. It was particularly impressive how Alcaraz competed against both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the quarter-final and semi-final, respectively. Also, Alcaraz is the first player to beat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in back-to-back matches.

Earlier on Instagram, Rafa posted a story and a post to congratulate the Alcaraz after his big win at the Madrid Open. In his story, he posted some clapping and trophy emojis. later, he posted a picture of Alcaraz holding the Madrid Open trophy. In the caption, he wrote, Congratulations Carlos!!!!! What a great tournament. Big win!!!”

Meanwhile, the final match was disappointing compared to the previous rounds. The beginning of the match was competitive, as they were both going toe to toe. Alcaraz broke Zverev while the score was 3-2 in the first set. In the end, the Spaniard won the set 6-3. In the second set, Zverev could not stand against Alcaraz’s power and precision. He obliterated the German player and won the second set by 6-1. The match lasted just over an hour, as the final score was 6-3,6-1. 

Alcaraz is now one of the top favorites to win the French Open title

With this win, the Spaniard became the youngest ever ATP player to win the Madrid Open at only 19 years old and 3 days. After his win over Nadal and Djokovic, many people thought it was the passing of the torch moment for the young Spaniard. Now, he has surely become one of the top favorite players to win the French Open title.

However, Nadal is still probably the favorite player at the Roland Garros. Currently, the 35-year-old Spanish player is preparing for the Italian Open. It will be interesting to see if Alcaraz plays in Rome now after winning back-to-back titles on clay.
