According to a recent report from SI.com, during a recent series against the Boston Red Sox, Dom Chiti visited the weight room at Fenway Park. As usual, Ohtani was working out with a silver-rubber ball, weighing around 20-pounds.
But what happened in the weight room was a complete shock for the Angels’ coach. When Chiti was walking around in the room, suddenly Ohtani threw the ball toward Chiti and said, “Heads up!”
The ball almost hit the 63-year-old Chiti. But it turned out to be filled with only air. “He got me bad,” said Chiti. “There’s not much shame in that, though.”
Will Ohtani retain his AL MVP Award?
After an exceptional season in 2021, Ohtani received the American League MVP Award. While many MLB pundits called him a one-season wonder, Ohtani has an even better record in the current season.
With 46 strikeouts and seven home runs already in the 2022 season, Ohtani is inarguably the best two-way player in MLB. Given there are still over 100 games to be played, Ohtani has a strong chance to retain the AL MVP Award.
