Dwayne Johnson and Will Smith are two megastars in Hollywood. Over the years, both actors have given several blockbuster movies. However, both are yet to work together in a film together.

Although Johnson and Smith have not worked in a movie together, they have worked for a particular franchise twice. Both  actors have worked in Disney movies and with Black Adam coming up this year in October, DCEU will also be a common franchise between them.

Will Smith and Dwayne Johnson have starred in Aladdin and Jungle Cruise respectively. In 2019, Will Smith outshined everyone with his role as Genie in the movie Aladdin and a sequel to it is planned for the coming years.

Dwayne Johnson did a fantastic job as Frank Wolff in Jungle Cruise alongside the British Actress Emily Blunt.

Which is the highest grossing movie Will Smith’s Aladdin or Jungle Cruise of Dwayne Johnson?

Will Smith’s Disney movie Aladdin was released in 2019 and was a box-office hit. They released it worldwide during the weekend. Moreover, as the plot of the movie is set in Middle-East, the movie was during the Ramadan weekend. This strategy helped the producers make millions in the Middle East.

Disney’s live-action “Aladdin” crossed $1 billion worldwide. The movie earned $343.1 million in the United States and $656.2 million internationally. The major earnings were $98.8 million in Japan, $81.4 million in Korea, $53.3 million in China, and $45.3 million in the UK.

Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise was set to release in the year 2020, however, the pandemic delayed the release. They released the movie in July 2021 in the United States and all the Disney streaming platform.

The movie earned a total of $220 million worldwide. It cost $200 million to make the movie. They did not launch the movie in all the countries to the covid protocols being in force last years.

It opened at $35 million at the U.S. box office and more than $30 million on Disney+ Premier Access in its first three days. Moreover, because of the late release of the movie in China, it failed to in the country and opened at only $3.3 million.

After the comparison done, it is safe to say Will Smith’s Alladin was a box office hit over Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise. However, Jungle Cruise would have earned close to Aladdin of the movie was released before the pandemic.

Is The Rock taking over Will Smith’s Genie role in Aladdin?

Fans all over the world what happened at the Oscars 2022 between Chris Rock and Will Smith. Rock jokingly said something about Jada Pinkett, which led Smith to walk to the stage and slap Chris Rock.

This incident had landed a 10-year Oscar Awards entry ban for Will Smith. This was sad news for Will Smith before another worrisome news came. A few days earlier, there were rumors that Will Smith could lose his memorable role of Genie in the sequel of the movie Aladdin to Dwayne Johnson.

Dwayne Johnson is currently a top-tier actor and is being offered many projects lately. The news is not confirmed yet, but if Disney changes the actor for the role, Dwayne Johnson is likely to be the next Genie in the movie Aladdin.
