The wait is finally over for the battle for the undisputed lightweight championship. The unified WBA, WBO, IBF, and The Ring lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. will take on the WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney on Sunday 5th June 2022 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

The pre-fight press conference for this exhilarating bout between the ‘Ferocious’ and Haney was scheduled for 16th May 2022. However, things didn’t go according to plan.
Devin Haney was a no-show for the press conference with George Kambosos Jr.
Kambosos took to Twitter to let the world know about the situation between him and Haney. According to his tweet, the duo was supposed to meet today in Melbourne for their press conference. However, Haney was nowhere to be found in this much-awaited fight press conference.
Damn shame Devin couldn’t keep to his commitments and be here for the scheduled press conference between me and him TODAY in Melbourne!! Don’t get cold feet on me now bro Im chomping at the bit for June 5th

Kambosos stated in his tweet, “Damn shame Devin couldn’t keep to his commitments and be here for the scheduled press conference between me and him TODAY in Melbourne!!”
Regardless of whether Haney showed up at the press conference or not, this fight is bound to make headlines. Fans are in for a ride for the fight for the undisputed lightweight championship in 3 weeks.

A look at Haney and Kambosos before the fight
The Australian-born boxer is coming off an incredible fight against Teofimo Lopez, where Kambosos came out victorious. Consequently, the ‘Ferocious’ became the unified lightweight champion. The undefeated fighter boasts a perfect record of 20-0 with a 50% knockout rate.

Similarly, Haney is also coming off an emphatic win over Joseph Diaz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The American boxer successfully defended his WBC lightweight title against Diaz. Furthermore, just like his future opponent, Haney is also coming into this fight with a perfect record of 27-0 with a knockout rate of 55.56%.
