Iconic jewellery brand Fabergé has released designs for a new Game of Thrones-inspired egg worth a staggering £1.6million ($2.2million) – and you’ll probably need a loan from the Iron Bank if you want to buy it.

It might not contain a real-life dragon, but the stunning ‘commemorative egg objet’ from Fabergé’s head designer, Liisa Tallgren, draws inspiration from the hit HBO series.

Liisa has collaborated with Game of Thrones’ costume designer Michele Clapton to create ‘an intricate and enchanting design that tells the tale of Daenerys Targaryen’s quest to take her place on the Iron Throne.’

The newly-released designs for the egg features a purple and silver exterior and is finished with diamonds, while the inside features a miniature dragon and a crown.

It was announced to mark Easter celebrations, as well as the 10th anniversary of the show debuting on HBO.

Speaking about the one-off creation, Michele said [via the Hollywood Reporter]: ‘From the very beginning, the evolution of this egg objet has been truly poetic.

‘The design references Daenerys Targaryen’s incredible journey and the importance of colour within her costumes, her passion for her dragons, and the way she portrayed messages via her jewellery throughout her journey on the show.

‘References from the textures of the dragons and their iconic eggs were used to inform the surfaces of this egg objet.’

Speaking about the ruby-encrusted inside of the egg, Michele said: ‘I knew instantly what the secret gift should be, there was never a doubt; it had to be the crown that Daenerys believed throughout her life was her destiny.’

The final version of the egg is set to be unveiled later in 2021.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Game Of Thrones is moving from Westeros to the West End in a new play written by George RR Martin.

The author, who created the world of the Seven Kingdoms, will be adding to the increasing Westeros franchise which already includes the upcoming House Of The Dragon, and at least five other TV projects.

Game of Thrones can be streamed on Sky Atlantic and Now.
