WWE giant Omos: Triple H predicts big things for AJ Styles’ associate at WrestleMania 37

Fans will finally see Omos step into the ring for his debut match at WrestleMania 37 – and WWE legend Triple H is expecting big things.

The towering giant – who stands at seven foot three inches – will team up with AJ Styles this weekend to take on The New Day for the Raw Tag Team Championships, and it will be the first time everyone will get a look at what he can really do in the ring.

Typically, WWE recruits nowadays make their way through the Performance Center and NXT, but while former basketballer Omos – whose real name is Jordan Omogbehin – has been working at the training facility, he didn’t appear on television for the black and gold brand.

Asked about the rising star’s potential, Triple H told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s funny, people just see what he does on TV, so they see him the one time a week on TV or whatever.

‘They don’t see him in the gym, still at the PC, they don’t see him in the ring at the PC. They don’t see him training every day, still, to be something special. He’s putting in the effort.

‘He just really is one of those hard working, hard work ethic people that is putting in the effort to really be good at this, and I think he will be.

‘You’re getting to see that first hand at Mania, that he’s not just the big dude standing there. I think he’s gonna shock a lot of people.’

Thus far, fans have been blown away by Omos’ feats of strength – including ripping the back off an Elimination Chamber pod earlier this year – and the company has taken a less-is-more approach with introducing him to a wider audience.

The Game explained: ‘He’s really a sponge. When you’re as big as he is and as unique as he is, the spotlight is bright, right? People can’t wait to see what you can do, so you have to be cautious with it.

‘Hopefully we’re giving him just enough to chew on at each moment in time that it works wonderfully. He’s got a bright future. Just a quality person, great guy, humble, just loves what he’s doing, couldn’t be happier.

‘He’s one of those success stories – when I see him, it makes me smile. He’s just one of those guys, and you wanna see him succeed.’

With Omos’ size already catching the eye of fans around the world, Triple H admitted that sometimes WWE does need to take things slow – such as with the introduction of Parker Boudreaux – to ensure all the building blocks are in place.

He added: ‘When you’re that big – he’s an incredible athlete – this takes a long time, what we do, WWE superstars… not something that you open up the door and walk in, and “Hey, there you are!”

‘Even people that have been doing it a long time – it just takes a while. Your improvement is consistent and constant, and then you get to a level where you succeed and people think, “That took a long time!” Or they think, “Why didn’t they do it sooner?”

‘Because they weren’t ready yet. [But] he’s a sponge for it, he works really really hard.’

*NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver airs April 7 and 8 on WWE Network. WrestleMania 37 airs April 10 and 11 on WWE Network.
