Thomas Brodie-Sangster has spoken out for the first time about his blossoming relationship with Talulah Riley, ex-wife (twice) of Tesla founder billionaire Elon Musk.

The pair met while working together on Pistol, the new six-part Sex Pistols mini-series for Disney Plus, playing the band’s manager Malcolm McLaren and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood respectively.

The real-life former couple ran boutique shop SEX during the Sex Pistols era and had a son, Agent Provocateur co-founder Joseph Corré, together.

During the series, Thomas aims rather a few cruel one-liners towards his girlfriend Talulah while in character as McLaren, a man ex-Sex Pistols member John Lydon infamously dubbed ‘the most evil man in the world’.

However, the former child star – now 32 – has revealed that the romance between him and Westworld star Talulah, 36, didn’t spark until after they wrapped on Pistol, and the pair enjoy a rather calmer relationship then their on-screen counterparts.

‘I wasn’t dating her at the time,’ he told the Guardian, before adding: ‘Thankfully we’re not too much like Viv and Malc.’

Talulah also shared a little insight into the start of their relationship recently.

In an interview with the Times, she revealed: ‘We hadn’t really acknowledged each other as a romantic possibility or potential until the moment that we both did. And it was the same moment a number of months after having worked together and been good friends.’

The actress said she had ‘absolutely no idea’ what changed, but that it was ‘very strange’.

The pair were first photographed together in February on a lunch date in London, before seemingly confirming their relationship by attending a pre-Baftas party together in March.

Talulah previously tied the knot with 50-year-old Elon twice, in 2010 and in 2013 after a 2012 divorce.

They separated for good in 2016, although still enjoy a friendly relationship.

Elsewhere, Thomas revealed to the Guardian that he was ‘really proud of’ Love Actually, saying that it was ‘cool to be in a film that’s somehow still gaining momentum’.

He also shared that his close association with the film, even almost 20 years later, didn’t bother him

‘If I got annoyed about it every time [he was labelled as such], I’d spend a lot of my life that way,’ he joked.

Pistol is due to land on Disney Plus this week, although one person not looking forward to its release is John Lydon.

The group’s former front man called director Danny Boyle an ‘a***hole’ while discussing his issues with the show on This Morning on Monday.

Last year he lost a lawsuit against his ex-bandmates Steve Jones and Paul Cook, in which he attempted to block the use of the Sex Pistols’ music in the project.

Pistol will be available to stream on Disney Plus on May 31.
