Jesy Nelson has reportedly been sent ‘back to the drawing board’ as she continues working on her debut solo album.

The former Little Mix star, 30, is currently in Los Angeles as she works on a new album, her first since leaving the girl group.

Boyz singer Jesy released her debut single in October last year, which fared well on the charts despite being mired in controversy over alleged ‘Blackfishing’, which Jesy has vehemently denied.

Jesy has been keeping fans updated as she works on new tracks in LA, however it doesn’t seem like a release could be coming any time soon, with her album reportedly delayed.

The star is reported to have been sent ‘back to the drawing board’ after showing music execs early versions of new tracks.

While bosses ‘felt sure there was potential there…they felt the tracks would benefit’ from further work, a source told The Sun.

They added Jesy has ‘worked incredibly hard on her solo music’ and is working diligently to rework the early versions.

‘She is determined to only play them the new music when it’s perfect, so they haven’t heard any more since then,’ the source claimed.

They added there are ‘high hopes’ for Jesy’s debut album ‘when it is finally complete,’ however there is reportedly no release date as of yet.

Jesy’s team had previously denied that her debut album had been delayed until 2022 due to the ‘Blackfishing’ controversy and alleged feud with her former Little Mix bandmates.

They told Metro.co.uk it was never the plan for her album to be released in 2021, but added that ‘a second single is in the works.’

News on the solo artist’s upcoming debut album comes as her former group, Little Mix, finished their farewell tour after announcing a hiatus earlier this year after a decade together.
