LGBT Love Island fans hope Amber Beckford and Tasha Ghouri kiss isn’t the only queer representation of the series: Give it to us properly!’-Cydney Yeates-Entertainment – Metro

LGBTQ+ Love Island fans are holding out hope for more queer representation after Amber Beckford and Tasha Ghouri shared a kiss during the first episode of series 8. After all, it is Pride month.
It was a jam-packed instalment on Monday night, what with footballer Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma Owen trying hard not to reveal her famous dad to the other contestants while Luca Bish shared his favourite sex positions.
Cut to the last half of the ITV2 show and the singletons played a flirty game of dares, which saw Amber plant a kiss on Tasha.
It all kicked off when Amber, 24, was instructed to deliver her best chat-up line to the girl she fancied the most.
Before she could make her move, however, Luca seemingly forgot that other sexualities beyond hetero exist and tried to shut the whole thing down.

‘Why can’t I?’ Amber replied, before adding: ‘I’ve got a good one. Tash, fancy giving us a tash?’
She then beckoned Tasha, 23, over and the pair kissed.
While many viewers were happy with the tiniest bit of queer representation (although some did point out that it could be seen as fetishization should the women just be kissing for men’s attention), many cried out for more.
‘Love Island do not tease bisexual representation like that… it is pride month. GIVE IT TO US PROPERLY,’ one viewer demanded.
Echoing a similar sentiment, another penned: ‘Where’s the LGBTQ representation they promised us? Is that it? Just that? LOL.’
A third added: ‘Is that our queer representation for the year?’
Love Island has yet to welcome its doors fully to LGBTQ+ contestants, with ITV commissioner Amanda Stavri previously saying that they would present a ‘logistical difficulty’.
However, Metro.co.uk last year investigated just how difficult it would be to create a series that was inclusive of all genders and sexualities alike. And it turned out, it’s not very.
Former Love Island contestant Sharon Gaffka has also called for the show to welcome its doors to LGBTQ+ singletons after she previously came out while in the villa.

‘The influence of the show extends far beyond the duration of its time on TV,’ she told us. ‘For many, it is more than just a form of entertainment – it is an integral part of society.
‘As the self-proclaimed owners of love, please can we remember that all love is love, and not just heterosexual love?’
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
