BUYING clothes that are a perfect fit can be a bit of a guessing game sometimes.

Even if the label says it’s your size, it can still be a gamble.

Some people thought the symbols were clues to how the items fit

After a so-called hack went viral online, explaining that there are secret codes on the labels of clothes in Zara.

People thought that the shapes on the labels were actually size-guides.

One person posted a video on TikTok saying: “Square means true to size, triangle means it runs small, and circle means it runs big.”

Keen shoppers thought the symbols would help when it came to shopping in the store, indicating whether they should size-up or not.

And they weren’t the ones ones convinced by the viral hack, other fashion fans, including another TikTok user, who said: “I just found out the most crazy Zara hack ever and it will change your life for the better.

“So, the lady working at the register basically told me that anything that has a square on it means that it is true to size and anything that has a triangle on it means that you need to size up.”

Some workers from Zara chimed in to reveal what the symbols really mean.

One said: “I actually asked someone who works at Zara and she was laughing.

“They are for the employees that help them placing the items correctly in the shop.”

Another seemed to confirm that the symbols have nothing to do with sizing: “I worked at Zara, the symbols mean what line their from woman’s basics, trafaluc and such.”

One ex-Zara employee commented: “Not true! I worked in Zara for six years!”
