The eighth season of Love Island has already brought plenty of drama and fans have been glued to their screens.

And, despite the recoupling causing chaos among islanders, we’ll be deprived of entertainment from the villa this evening.

That’s right, there’ll be no fume-inducing chats or talk of top three lists, nor will we see Ekin-Su prepping her protein pancakes for the boys.

So, if you’re wondering why there’s no Love Island on Saturday nights, we’ve got everything you need to know.

Why is Love Island not on tonight?

Love Island is never aired on Saturday nights, but is on all six other days of the week.

Instead, fans of the show will be treated to Love Island: Unseen Bits from 9pm to 10.05pm on ITV2.

There is no new episode on Saturdays as the Islanders get a day off from filming, where they can leave the villa so the cleaners can go in.

Speaking on This Morning, 2017 winner Kem Cetinay said: ‘They give you one day off. You get one day off per week. What happens is, it gives them a day to clean the villa, and you take your mics off, and normally we go to the beach.’

Kem added: ‘So what happens is, when you take your mic off, you are not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show, you have to talk about home life.

‘You are being watched by the producers, because they don’t want you to talk about what is going on. They are quite careful about what you talk about, because they want to keep it so everyone at home can see it.’

And, season five islander Amy Hart told Closer Online: ‘Saturdays isn’t a day off. We don’t have days off we have our microphones the whole time.

‘Every day I was in there I was mic’d and filmed.’

When will Love Island return?

Fans will have to wait until Sunday night to catch more action from the Love Island villa.

In the meantime, you’ll be able to catch some of this week’s unseen action from the show on ‘Unseen Bits’ tonight.

Love Island: Unseen Bits is on at 9pm on ITV2, with the main show returning at 9pm on Sunday.
