Shea Whitney revealed the seven mistakes that can make you look frumpy and just not as good as you could, but luckily they’re all so easy to fix.

Jean pockets

It turns out the placement of your jean pockets can drastically change the look of your bum.

Shea said: You really want to pay attention to that because it really makes a big difference.

PRIMANIA

It turns out, pockets that are wide apart will make your bum look wide and saggy, whereas pockets that are closer together will frame your bum, making it look more perky.

Jeans that are too long

This goes for any trousers, but is most common with jeans.

Basically, when your jeans are too long it ruins the entire outfit, and while you can always fold jeans to make them shorter it doesn’t always look great.

Shea explained: “Some people do like to roll up their jeans, but I do think that it cuts of your legs and isn’t the most flattering look.”

Instead, make sure your jeans hit you exactly on your ankle so they’re not too short or long.

Sleeve length

Similar to jeans, if you’re sleeves are too long or short it’s a massive giveaway that your outfit was badly planned.

More than that, it can look sloppy and unprofessional, so always make sure your long sleeves don’t go past your wrist, but are also not too short.

The fashion pro confessed that it’s easy to forget about sleeves, especially when the rest of the outfit might fit perfectly.

But correct sleeve length can make all the difference, she says.

Know your proportions

Shea explained, one trick might work for one person, but will have to opposite effect on another.

For example, If you’ve got short legs, tucking your t-shirt in will help elongate them.

But if your legs are already long and you have a short torso, this trick can make you look out of proportion, and untucking might look better.

The pro explained: “I love high-waisted jeans, but maybe for your body type they might not be the best, so go with your proportions.”

Consider your fabrics

Some fabrics will look better than others, the fashion whizz explained, showing a fuzzy jumper that made her look bigger than she actually is.

The textured jumper might work on smaller frames, but if your goal is to look small, it’s probably best to stick to smoother fabrics.

Consider your patterns

“Really large patterns are very easy to see,” Shea said, explaining that because the pattern is big, you’ll also look bigger.

Although this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s important to remember when dressing.

If you want to appear slimmer, stick to smaller patterns.

Shirt buttons

“Don’t let your buttons pop out,” Shea said.

Although people with smaller chests are less likely to have this problem, it can still happen to the best of us.
