BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst updated her followers online after her son was rushed to hospital on Saturday.

The morning host, 41, missed a charity event over the weekend ‘but life took a different turn’ for her as she rushed to Wythenshawe Hospital, in Greater Manchester.

After uploading a picture of her son’s cast online, she tweeted: ‘Supposed to be walking 26 miles for Alzheimer’s Society today, but life took a different turn.’

‘Five hours in A&E ain’t so bad when the paid staff are attentive, kind & keep you updated. He cried as we LEFT.’

Fans quickly rushed to express their concerns for Nina, with one writing: ‘Hi Nina oh no that’s not what you need on a sunny Saturday morning (well its sunny here for now !!) , I wish your son a speedy recovery. Bet he was a brave boy and what a cool bandage.

‘I hope you get to do your miles again soon for such a great cause.’

While BBC Political Reporter Claire Hamilton added: ‘Oh no! Lots of love to you all.’

The mother-of-two later updated everyone on her son’s well being and shared a picture of his decorated cast.

‘Tbf walked close to this trying to locate cash, break a note* and escape the A&E car park,’ she wrote.

‘*Thanks @marksandspencer for the compulsory purchase. Real classy.'(sic)

In 2018, Nina started reporting for BBC Breakfast on a freelance basis, and stepped in when regular hosts were unavailable.

In October 2020, she was appointed as the main business presenter, and has reappeared on the screen following Dan Walker’s departure to Channel 5.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
