SCROLLING through TikTok you’ll see hundreds of tall, slim women who look like they should be walking the catwalk alongside Kendall Jenner.

TikTok user Jess, 24, from Newport, Monmouthshire, South Wales, noticed the trend – and decided to do something about it to make it more inclusive for women of all shapes and sizes.

Midsize fashion guru, Jess revealed her top styling tips to flatter your middriffJess midsizefashioninspo

“I found that all the girls looked like models on there,” Jess tells Fabulous.

So she took matters into her own hands in September last year and began sharing style inspiration for midsize girls.

Jess has since made thousands of curvy girls feel confident in their own skin.

She recalls: “one girl messaged me that she wore a sports bra to the gym today instead of a massive hoodie because of my videos.”

Stomach-flattering clothes

The fashion guru, who is a size 12 – 14, reveals that if you are feeling insecure about your stomach, then what you wear on the bottom half will make all the difference.

Wide-leg trousers are always a winner and keep you cool in the hotter monthsJess midsizefashioninspo

Fashion Fix: Trousers

Wide-leg trousers can help draw attention away from your stomach while still being comfortable in the hotter months.

Jess recommends: “Wear a black belt, a darker colour will make your waist appear smaller – it also means you can size up in trousers then add a belt to cinch your waist in and it will be much comfier to wear.”

If wide-leg trousers aren’t your thing then jeans can also work says Jess, who recommends New Look jeans for midsize ladies.

Skirts that are tight on the waist and flow out help flatter your stomach and are much more comfortable to wearJess midsizefashioninspo

Fashion Fix: Skirts

If you struggling feeling confident in skirts then you might be buying the wrong style for your figure.

Wrap skirts are perfect for those who feel insecure about their stomachs says Jess as the wrap detail can detract from your stomach.

She explains: “They’re tight at the waist and flow out, which gives you a flattering shape but it’s nice and loose on the stomach which is more comfortable.”

The midsize fashion pro revealed that Topshop on Asos and Hollister both offered a great selection of skirts for midsize women.

Forget the old advice that you can’t wear patterns or colours – they look great on anyoneJess midsizefashioninspo

Fashion Fix: Dresses

There are plenty of dresses that work if you’re trying to conceal your midriff, and Jess recommends going for wrap details again.

If you’re shy about getting your arms out in dresses this summer – then puff sleeves are always flattering without completely hiding them.

Right now midi dresses are all the range at the moment, and they look amazing no matter what size you are.

“You can wear them in any colour or pattern, Topshop has some great options,” says Jess.

Tight clothes look great on any body shape – but certain materials can help you feel more confident wearing themInstagram/@midsizefashioninspo

Tight Clothing

If you feel that you cant wear tight clothing because of your size or shape then listen up, because that’s totally not the case.

Fashion Fix: Mix and match

If you’re particularly self-conscious about your tummy and not ready to go tight from head to toe, then try wearing a tight top and pairing it with loose bottoms.

The fashion guru explains: “It really depends on your body shape, if your bigger on the bottom like your stomach, then fitted on top and loose on the bottom works as you’re drawing attention to the smaller parts.”

Fashion Fix: Materials

Tight clothes can look good on anybody – but getting the right material can definitely help.

Stiff material can help smooth your body out and won’t cling to your body in the wrong places.

It’s also a good idea to look out for small details such as ruching or knots, says Jess.

“Small details like this work to distract from the tummy area,” she adds she often finds occasion dresses from Quiz.

Fashion Fix: Shapewear

Shapewear can be uncomfortable but if you’re determined to suck in the tummy there are a few options to go for.

Skims offer a great selection of shapewear as does Primark, says Jess who swears by their shapewear bras to wear under crop tops.

Not only does Jess inspire other midsize girls to wear what they want and feel confident in their own skin, but they’ve also helped her.
