Kath & Kim return after 15 years for 20th anniversary episode and you know it’s going to be the bees knees-Ruth Lawes-Entertainment – Metro

Kath & Kim fans have cause for celebration as it has been confirmed the Australian duo will reunite for a special episode to ring in the series’ 20th birthday.
The cult comedy was created by Jane Turner and Gina Riley, who play the titular characters, and was on air from 2002 and 2007.
Set in Fountain Lakes, a fictional suburb of Melbourne, the sitcom follows the day-to-day suburban lives of Kath Day-Knight (Jane Turner) and her self-indulgent daughter Kim (Gina Riley).
Plot details of the upcoming special are being kept under wraps, but it has been reported by The Sydney Morning Herald that Kath’s daughter Kimberly Day Craig (Gina Riley) and butcher husband Kel (Glenn Robbins) are set to return.
Meanwhile, out of Kim’s nearest and dearest her husband Brett (Peter Rowsthorn) and second-best friend Sharon Strzelecki (Magda Szubanski) are expected to star.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their delight over the announcement, with a user saying the news was ‘very exciting.’
Another social media fan could not contain their excitement, saying: ‘Kath & Kim 20th anni special is happening!!! BEST NEWS EVER!!’

Celebrities to have had guest roles in the original series include Can’t Get You Out Of My Head singer Kylie Minogue and late cricketing legend Shane Warne.
Kylie, 54, played adult Epponee-Rae, Kim and Brett’s daughter, for two episodes and several social media lovers have called for the popstar to reprise her role on the special.

‘Yes, yes, all very exciting about the football but I just found out they’re filming a #KathAndKim 20th Anniversary Special so that’s pretty much the most exciting news of my year. Fingers crossed for @kylieminogue to be in it as well,’ one wrote on Twitter.
Filming is understood to have started in a studio complex in Melbourne, but it has not yet been confirmed which network has picked up the episode.
As well as the TV series and special, the Kath & Kim franchise includes a TV film, Da Kath & Kim Code, and a feature film, Kath & Kimderella.
